So, a classic example of this show's ethos.A couple of kids can have a baby but a happily married adult couple can't.The dichotomy isn't particularly well done or handled and doesn't make Bridget and Declan seem any more believable as a couple or as parents.Steve cuts a forlorn figure during the family celebration, unable to join in with the hug.Elsewhere, everyone's rallying around Libby and it's good that she and Dan seem back on good terms by the end.Susan butts in on Toadie's parenting in a typically heavy-handed way and once more he ends up doing what she says.
The incident also helps to bring out some of Lucas' character traits as he proves incapable of dealing with the emotions involved, preferring to joke with Dan rather than support him.This spills over into his relationship with Elle, as the episode ends with him possibly ruining things between them just as she opened up.
