Gorgeous and action-packed but not twisted enough even if it ends with a cliffhanger

If it wasn't for Tess, mesmerizing beautiful as always, I would probably have been a bit disappointed by this episode. Cassidy Freeman came out from nowhere and her sporadic performances revealed a very talented actress.

As for the things I didn't like, there're quite many. First the story could have been twisted but it wasn't because of the linear writing. It would have been so much more interesting if some scenes had been omitted on purpose to blind the viewers or better written to puzzle us. An other problem was what happened to a certain character. It occurred so many times already that it's not interesting anymore. In fact it's so frequent that writing it in this very review wouldn't even been a spoiler. However the good side is that the event ended with a very tense dialog between two main characters, with a bitter reference to a past event. The other issue with Injustice was its lines, nearly quoted from Bulletproof and other "leagual" episodes. But the characters developed anyway so it's all for the best. As for Clark it didn't feel like he was finally ready to embrace his destiny, even if the character he talked to were quite convincing. I also didn't really like the freaks because they reminded me of the old freak of the week episodes. Otherwise they brought some fresh air to the usual Clark and Lois arc. Moreover the writers managed to link them to the Doomsday arc so it wasn't that bad. It's probably just that I'm more into psychology and romance than action.

In the end the strawberry on the shortcake was Tess Mercer. It seems her profile is a mix between Lex and Lana because she's both obsessed by Clark but also quite concerned about him. In the past episodes it almost felt like if she was in love with him and in this one her true motives are revealed. In fact it ended with a cliffhanger the fans won't forget for a long time because it wasn't expected at all. We threw a ball at her at Mach speed but she did a home run anyway. Now I better understand why the writers have decided not to allow her and Lois to share too much screen space, because fans wouldn't be able to handle the pressure. Clark and Oliver clashing is one thing but we're not just ready yet for a Erica Durance versus Cassidy Freeman. And the writers better plan things carefully before unleashing the beasts in an upcoming episode, because only one remains. An other element I enjoyed in this episode was Oliver's scenes. Considering the importance of his mission it made them even more funny. One of them was also quite surprising because if I had been him I would have definitely found a way to take off or make me invisible. However he managed to save appearances anyway so it's not that dramatic, he's Green Arrow after all.

So overall it wasn't perfect but at least it succeeded in cleaning up the ring for the final blow, Doomsday.
