Epsidoe 2 Update: This show is asinine\sucks.

The newly aired pilot is entertaining and comes with a good fill of action and compelling plot twists. Unfortunately, coming off the tails of the successful unlikely-partnership-between-FBI-agent-and-civilian crime mystery "Castle", "White Collar" will likely share the same fate most shows Tiffani Thiessen's been on since "Saved by the Bell" have met - a single season run.

Despite a savvy writing staff, the star of the show Matthew Bomer's playful portrayal of the master criminal is critically hampered due to the hackneyed performances of Tim DeKay and Ms. Thiessen. If it weren't too late to replace parts of the tired supporting cast, "White Collar" could really be a great addition to the USA lineup.

The balance between drama, action, and intrigue are superb, the subject matter is thrilling, and the portrayal of a neo-noir anti-hero on par with Pierce Brosnan's "Thomas Crown" is quite refreshing. But with stiff competition from "Castle" and an overpopulation of CSI-style shows, I can't imagine "White Collar" will succeed even if the supporting performances in the proceeding episodes improve. Even still, I look forward to watching the next few episodes and thinking of what could have been had the circumstances been different.
