Last Sunday, I was able to watch Dans Une Galaxie Pres De Chez Vous 2. I was a fan of the series. Since the start. I remember tuning in on Canal Famille after school to watch the episodes. The show ended in a weird manner, the ending episode wasn't too great in my opinion. After all what the crew of the ship has been through and then end the show is such a weak manner. Was very disappointing for me. That last episode just felt like an other episode. I wanted something big, but it seemed like they rushed that ending.
I got even more disappointed with the first movie. I was all excited to finally see the Series on the big screen, but all I got was a 2 hour episode. Once again, they didn't end the series (So I was expecting an other movie) and they changed the whole series. I felt heart broken in the first film. The ship seemed "dark" not as comedic as it was in the series. The movie seemed based on only a couple of characters. While the others were kind of left out and seemed more like support characters other then main characters.
Then I thought that maybe the series shouldn't be turn into a movie. But I take back what I said. I was doubtful about the second film. But when I saw the trailer for the upcoming movie. I did a little victory dance. Seeing the crew again was just great (and this is just a trailer) and the inside of the ship was back to what it was in the TV series. I had no idea of the plot of the movie. The movie crew and cast were very good at hiding it during interviews which made the wait for the movie more exciting.
I laughed, I cried, I got chills. It was great, amazing. I had to go pee since the start of the movie but didn't even bother getting up and going to the bathroom. I wouldn't miss this movie for a million dollars. First off, there was a huge change since the first film. Just by the first shot of the film, it looked different. The movie looked different, the narrator intro made it obvious that this time they had a point. Not only this movie brings us back in the past and relive all these great childhood memory. But it gives a great final conclusion to the series and gives us, the audience, a great message concerning our planet.
The cast was just amazing this one. In the first movie, I thought they looked uncomfortable on the big screen, their placement in the ship, the setting of the ship, it was all wrong, and it looked like the cast knew it was wrong, the command center of the ship in the first film was dark. And in such a dark environment the characters looked different. In the second movie. The set is back to like it was in the series except for minor change (bigger budget) The cast are able to be all in the same shot at the same time, unlike the first movie where the ship was large and it was hard to have all characters on screen.
Cast was great as always, but there was something great about the cast in this one. They were able to make us laugh really hard and a few seconds later makes us cry, or stare in astonishment. They were able to change our mood very quickly. And I must congratulate the director. I had no idea who the hell this director was at first. But, Wow! What a great job. I had no idea such great directing good be done on a Quebec production. I was surprised.
Too bad this movie is only shown in Quebec, because it has a great message that we should take seriously. And the way the movie ended, by telling us to protect are planet, I thought to myself, there was so many movies telling us to protect our planet but yet nobody tried. And the credits of the movie showed how we would actually react to such a message, and this is totally true.
They made this movie is such a short amount of time and made such a great masterpiece. You might thing I am over exaggerating, but this movie is flawless, it has everything you want. Even if your not a fan of the series. And if you are, you'll love this movie even more.
