Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Near the beginning of the movie after Jonathan Scarfe's character arrives, the Sheriff shakes his hand sees his tattoo and asks if he was a Marine. Problem is the tattoo says USN - which stands for United States Navy. moreFAQ

"Vipers" tells the story about a group of people fighting for their lives against a group of genetically enhanced Viper snakes, who have escaped from a lab and have made their way to a local island to munch on a few of the locals. A completely misleading film, which almost falls under the "avoid at all costs" category, because it was such a mess. It was originally meant to appear on The Sci-Fi channel, and I can see why. But at the same time, I've seen Sci-Fi originals better than this! Well, here's an update, they *are* sending it to Sci-Fi...hallelujah.
Completely misleading DVD cover and plot synopsis. The "hotel" that these characters take refuge in, is in the movie for around ten minutes tops and looks like a restaurant and not a hotel. When it is on-screen, the main characters do nothing in it. In fact, a bunch of twenty or so extras are the ones actually barricading the place up and such. There is no jungle in the movie, like the DVD cover suggests, and these characters are hardly stuck on an island...it's more like a town.
The script and writing is terrible, and I felt like I was watching a soap opera with the constant melodramatic music playing. There was so many character story lines, I don't know where to begin. He's sleeping with her and she's sleeping with him, but she went out with his deceased friend and now she likes him...for god's sake. It didn't help when the ever-so-predictable romance was blooming between the two leads, when a bunch of black lines...I mean...uh, snakes, are killing people.
The acting was so-so, and the CGI was terrible. Four of the best actors in the film, Tara Reid, Corbin Bernsen, Mercedes McNab and the late Don S. Davis are given nothing to work with. Tara was like a teenager, Mercedes and Corbin were hardly in the movie and Don just disappeared. It's a shame these actors have been reduced to crap like this, and it's an ultimate shame for Tara Reid, whose career seems to be going downhill by each movie. The CGI in the movie was terrible, and only looked remotely decent when the snakes were up-close. Other than that, they were duplicate black lines crawling across the floor.
The only entertainment this movie has to offer, is the fact that it really is laughable, especially the death scenes. The death scenes are so bland, predictable and immensely stupid and unrealistic - you can't help but laugh and roll your eyes at them. But then again, there are hardly any death scenes because most of the extras are the ones being eaten by the snakes. I really can't believe I was expecting at least some cheesy fun from this, because it was terrible. No wonder it's appeared on TV in some countries and it boggles my mind why this didn't go to Sci-Fi. This movie isn't even of Straight-to-DVD quality. If you're going to watch it, prepare to hate it.
2/10.
