Derrived from original Jaws all over it but its of higher quality than other such rip-offs. I attribute it primarily to the setting and the the less predictable script and more emphasis put on characters. The stupid things they do are at the level of "any normal would do". The cast are actors--good ones as I care for those the script permits me to learn about. Terms of victims only 2 I didn't care for and nonetheless I was shuddering whenever or whoever fell victim to the beast. There's several intelligent people in it; love films that don't heap all the answers on one character. The cinematography's good and other than the beast opening its eyes, "beast blink" gets repetitive after a while. But beast eye openings are a small negative--this thing is one vicious creep outcreature.
