Liv Tyler and Juno co-stars Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page have all signed on to Super, a comedy from writer-director James Gunn that takes aim at the superhero genre. Ted Hope (Adventureland, The Savages) will produce.
Wilson will play an average guy who takes on the pseudo-superhero alter ego of the Crimson Bolt, after watching his wife (Tyler) fall under the spell of a charming drug dealer. Lacking super powers, he compensates by swinging a trusty wrench.
Gunn previously scripted Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, Scooby Doo and its sequel and The Specials. In 2006 Gunn made his directorial debut with the horror-comedy Slither. He’s also currently developing the action thriller The Belcoo Experiment.
Wilson, who last hit the big screen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will next be seen in Peep World and Hesher. Page is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s Inception and stars in the upcoming comedy Whip It.
