Trivia:
Matthew Marsden was a childhood fan of the Transformers comic books and loved the first film. moreGoofs:
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: According to the Secretary of Defense in the first movie there were no survivors from the base attack in Quatar. In this movie Glenn Morshower (SOCCENT Colonel Sharp) returns and is now General Morshower. As indicated by the different name, this is an entirely different character from the one who died in Quatar, so it's perfectly understandable that he is alive. moreQuotes:
[first lines]Optimus Prime: Earth, birthplace of the human race, a species much like our own, capable of great compassion and great violence. For in our quest to protect the humans, a deeper revelation dawns. Our worlds have met before.

I believe the only reason Michael Bay made this film is to show off that he has got the skill to make an insanely fast paced movie with mind boggling action sequences which perhaps other directors shouldn't even dream of . ( when is James Cameroon's Avatar releasing ? ) And it seems like ILM took this chance to reinforce their lead in VFX. Now Weta and the likes will be forced to make something even more spectacular like they did in LOTR and King Kong.(Good for us anyway)
Now, coming back to the movie, what was that 's'crap? The typical archaic sequel storyline of there's something that was purposefully hidden from some of the characters in the first film and something apocalyptic at that. Now the whole world is running around crazy with robots who don't ever seem to run out of firepower (I never understood how a transformed washing machine could make insane numbers of bullets ). On the top of it, Sam's mother seems to have turned into a nympho. Oh gosh ! The whole storyline seems to be plotting to get a chance to show off new transformers with new tricks.
And if you are a movie buff, you get a splash of nostalgia every now and then with scenes reminding you of American Pie, Pearl Harbour, Mummy, Terminator and what not ! It seems like even some of the some robots have taken an affection to Megan Fox whom everybody seems to be dying for a chance to grapple. Everything is so predictable and the rest doesn't make sense. But I feel I should specially congratulate the Sound team who have done such an incredible work which nobody really seems to notice.
I feel really sorry to have to tell this because I really enjoyed Transformers I. But honestly unless you are someone who watches a movie for its spectacle (in this one CGI and maybe for some, Megan Fox), you have no reason to watch this one.
