The series was originally meant to gap the bridge between the first two live-action Transformers movie, Transformers (2007) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), and act as some sort of filler. The success of the cartoon and the toys surprised Hasbro, mostly the largely positive fan feedback.

Finally! A good Transformers cartoon!

Fanboys whined and complained about this series prior to it's debut on television, just like the movie directed by Michael Bay. And both the movie and the television debut of this series, utterly rocked.

The last three installments for Transformers, being Armada, Energon, and Cybertorn( AKA The Unicron trilogy) were pretty stale and lacked watchable for me. OK some episodes were good and some episodes had their moments but that was it. Still, I would much rather watch the TF: Robots in Disguise series, which I found pretty enjoyable though pretty "out there", over those three. But that's different.

Anyway, Transformers: Animated is pretty much everything I could want in a Saturday cartoon-Laughs, excitement, sense of fun, and some good drama to spare. It's mostly, so far anyway, a feel good kind of show for me. I like the way the characters are handled, as well as the human characters are. I've happened to like the entire cast of characters so far, except for the incredibly lame villains Angy Archer and Professor Princess( don't ask). I think the voice acting is top notch-David Kaye is not just apart of the Megatron voice clan, but now part of the Optimus Prime voice clan as well. He's fantastic, simply. Corey Burton is fantastic as Megatron and is pretty funny as Ratchet. Rumber Robinson is full of enthusiasm as both Bumble Bee and Blitzwing. Jeff Glen Bennet is great as Prowl, great as always he is. Bill Faggerbakke is soft and tough as nails as the lovable Bulkhead. Tom Kenny is hilarious as Isaac Sumdac and as Starscream, my kind of Starscream, the G1 one. Tara Strong plays another cute and feisty character as Sari Sumdac, the friend of the Autobots and Cree Summer is an intense delight as Black Arachina.

My only complaint so far is that the villain characters aren't that good, Meltodwn pretty much is the best so far. And Peter Stormare's voice helps out that factor pretty well.

Overall, I must say it's the best since Transformers cartoon yet, bravo!
