The Significant Other (2009) -- The road to true love is never easy, especially when the handsome prince finally shows up and the princess is already married! Opening the B&B is a great way to keep her grandmothers house, but Clara, (Brittany Joyner, No Burgers for Bigfoot) is young, single and pretty. When her nosy neighbor ladies find our her first guest is a male executive coming to stay for a month on business, they freak out and persuade her to make up a fake husband to 'protect her from unscrupulous men'. So she poses with Marty, (Stephen Brodie, A House Divided) and creates "the significant other" by placing pictures of them around the house and sporting a rock the size of Texas. It doesn't take Clara long to realize that until she actually gets married she is stuck living a lie and so she starts Internet dating, which is a disaster. As if that's not enough, that male executive, Rick, (Donny Boaz, The Great Debaters ) is gorgeous and single and they are instantly attracted, but he thinks she’s married. Clara doesn’t know how to tell him she’s not married, and then one evening Rick runs into her 'husband' with his male lover, and all heck breaks loose.

Lively comic portrayal of the dilemmas facing young women today. In my day it was easier, just get (insert favorite male name), alone in the surrey and smile sweetly. After knowing the neighborhood boys from the time you born until you were marriage age, it was a given that you would fall in love with one of them, and marry. Young women today, don't have the advantage of that background, and with all our freedom, which I wouldn't change, we still have some of the same problems of being pursued by guys that are not "nice". I know several times in my life when my wedding rings ended an unpleasant situation for me, and without causing rancor. And so I totally understand the premise of TSO, and sympathize with Clara's delimma. I hope everyone will all enjoy seeing TSO as much as I enjoyed participating in it.
