In an attempt to spotlight a scene related to post-Thanksgiving leftovers, I'd like to share a favorite little moment from Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. No, the teen rom-com doesn't directly connect to the holiday in any way, but there is this scene starring a turkey sandwich. And my brain and stomach being the odd collaborators that they are have deemed it appropriate, even if the sandwich is made of cold cuts and not turkey carved from a juicy, roasted whole bird.
Here's one reason it makes sense to my personal post-Thanksgiving activities: while many of you will be braving the crowds at the multiplex following your feast, I'll be at the bar -- hopefully one where I can dance some of the stuffing away -- and at last call, I'll tipsily head home and then stack some leftovers between two slices of bread and enjoy the first of many post-holiday turkey sandwiches. »

Earlier this week, Natalie Portman exclusively revealed to MTV News that "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" actress Kat Dennings had joined the cast of “Thor.” After a few days of speculation, we finally know which character Dennings will portray on the big screen.
According to Variety, Dennings will play Darcy, a coworker of Portman’s Jane Foster. While earlier reports hinted that Jane Foster would be “retooled” for this adaptation, it seems safe to assume that both Jane and Darcy will be in the medical profession, given the history of “Thor” in Marvel comics.
“Thor” will be the second superhero-related film for Dennings following the upcoming
"Defendor" with Woody Harrelson. Last month, Dennings expressed her desire to appear in an adaptation of Tim Seeley's "Hack/Slash."
It's interesting to note that the Variety report describes the story as focusing on a “partly disabled med student who discovers his Norse god alter ego, »

"Well I'm really excited," Portman told MTV News. "Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that."
Portman didn't reveal, however, what role Dennings had in the film. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all Thor news as soon as more information arrives.

Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist and House Bunny star Kat Dennings has been cast in Kenneth Branagh's upcoming adaptation of Marvel comic-book Thor. We know this because Natalie Portman told us yesterday ("I'm really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it and she's a good friend and an amazing actress.") Portman plays Jane Foster, who nurses Thor's human alter-ego Donald Blake. So which role might Dennings be taking? Heyuguys!' theory is that she's playing science intern and "overt wiseass" Marcy Lewis - as the...

Following several actors who have been previously confirmed to join "Thor", Kat Dennings also has a part in the film. The news was first spilled by the film's star Natalie Portman when she was interviewed by MTV Splash Page. "Well I'm really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that," the depicter of Thor's first love Jane Foster said.
Dennings' inclusion in the cast ensemble for the film was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. However, there has been no word on what character that will be played by the 23-year-old beauty as the site claimed Marvel Studio keeps a closed lid on her role.
Dennings is perhaps best known for her role as Norah Silverberg in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist", which aided her to receive nomination as Breakthrough Performance Female at 2009 MTV Movie Awards. »

"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" star Kat Dennings joins the cast ensemble for "Thor". The news was uncovered by the depicter of Jane Foster, Natalie Portman, during the promotion of her forthcoming movie "Brothers".
Asked by MTV News who she is looking forward the most to work with in the Kenneth Branagh-helmed movie, Portman admitted, "Well I'm really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that." Unfortunately, as of the press time, Paramount Pictures hasn't given any official confirmation about Dennings' involvement.
Kat Dennings started her acting career with her portrayal of Jenny Brier in famous TV series "Sex and the City". Since then, she has appeared in lots of movies, including "The 40 Year-Old Virgin", "Big Momma's House 2", "The House Bunny", "The Answer Man", and "Shorts". The 23-year-old can »

It's pedal to the metal time over at Kenneth Branagh's big Thor adaptation. The casting came slowly but surely for about four months, but here lately, Marvel has ramped up the ensemble quite a bit. In the past week or so, Ray Stevenson, Stuart Townsend, Idris Elba, and Tabadnobu Asano have all been confirmed, and on Monday, it was reported by MTV that Natalie Portman broke the latest cast news.
Kat Dennings, late of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, will be part of the hammer swingin' fun, although it was not immediately made clear what role she might play. Thankfully, SpoilertTV had a casting announcement back in October that seems to be a very good fit for Dennings:

Natalie Portman can't wait for Thor to begin filming, especially now that her friend, Kat Dennings, will be joining her. Speaking with MTV while doing press for her upcoming film Brothers, Portman let slip that Dennings would be joining the cast of Thor, though she didn't reveal who the latter would play. However, there seems to be plenty of speculation that Dennings, who most recently starred as Norah in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, could be taking on the role of Enchantress, an inhabitant of Asgard known for her magical powers and mind control capabilities. To find out the rest of what Portman had to say either watch the clip below or head over to MTV for the full transcript. Source: MTV »

Robert Pattinson cleaned up at the box office this weekend, along with the rest of the "New Moon" cast. One of his co-stars, however, would love to get together with him off-screen in the recording studio. The mega-release prompted reactions from Rainn Wilson and Brent Spiner as well today. "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli, meanwhile, tried to create a new vampire with a few photo tricks and a shot of Kat Dennings.
Check out all of that after the jump, along with Ice-t's photo op with the Naked Cowboy, philosophizing from Jim Carrey and Paris Hilton's new exotic pet. They're all on the little retweet mix tape I put together for you in the Twitter-Wood report for November 23, 2009.

In talking with MTV, actress Natalie Portman spilled the beans on yet another actress who will be joining the cast of Marvel's Thor for director Kenneth Branagh. According to Portman, who will star as Jane Foster, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist star Kat Dennings will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role. "I'm really excited," Portman told MTV News. "Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that." It is likely that Dennings will play another member of the hospital staff around nurse Jane Foster, who in the comics is employed by Dr. Donald Blake (the Earth identity of Thor). But nothing has yet been set, as this is the first we're hearing about Dennings' involvement. Dennings not only joins Portman, but also Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and the trio of actors (Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson »

It's looking like Natalie Portman won't be charged with being the only female presence in the Thor movie. Talking to MTV during the Brothers junket, Portman mentioned almost offhand that Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist star Kat Dennings will be joining her in the film. You can see the snippet of video below, in which Portman mentions Dennings so offhand that you'd almost think Dennings had already been confirmed as part of the cast. Indeed she hasn't, and now the comic book nerds are going to need to speak up and explain to the rest of us who on earth Dennings could possibly be playing. Giving that Portman's character is a mortal, Dennings will likely be one as well, since the actresses are excited to work together. Is she another romantic rival for Thor? A new sidekick character? Given the diverse cast of this increasingly exciting-sounding film, pretty much anything »

Chris Weitz has had quite the eclectic Hollywood career. The 40-year old first came to the public's attention when he collaborated with his brother to create the "American Pie" franchise, but he's also written screenplays for movies such as "Antz" and "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps"; directed Chris Rock's comedy "Down to Earth" and the fantasy epic ""The Golden Compass" (which was a massive international hit); and also produced flicks such as "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" and the upcoming Tom Ford drama "A Single Man." So, it's really not that surprising that the amiable Weitz would step in to helm... »

In real life I like Jay Baruchel a whole lot-- his skinny, twitchy presence is welcome in pretty much anything, and he even played a pretty convincing villain in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. But something about him isn't quite sitting right in the new trailer for How To Train Your Dragon, a DreamWorks Animation movie featuring Baruchel's voice as the scrawny kid in the Viking village who finds himself on the side of the giant reptiles in the epic human-dragon battle. Or, uh, something like that. The trailer spends more time setting up the character and the world than really getting into the plot, which is the way to go with first trailers anyway. You can watch the whole thing in glorious high-res at Yahoo! Movies or in our player below. Even though they quashed the Monsters vs. Aliens sequel, DreamWorks Animation is generally a studio that makes good »
