Super Hero series don't get any better than this!, 8 March 2008
10/10
Author: Perfect-Kenshin from The Enterprise

I gotta say, when I originally came in to watch this program, I had some pretty low expectations based on what I had already seen of the show via the Internet. Boy was I wrong! Where to start? First, the animation is excellent. I like how the animators often subtly pay homage to the Spider-man films. In the first episode, there was a scene that depicted Spider-man scaling a building at high pace. It was the same scene that was used after Doctor Octopus had knocked Spider-man of the train in Spider Man 2. Spider Man looks great and the capturing of his movements has been the best capture in a Spider man series to date. Having watched the first two episodes, I have no complaints in this department.

Second, the scripts are top notch. It would do the series a great injustice for me to merely provide a brief synopsis to both of the episodes which I watched, so I would suggest you catch it when it airs on WB next Saturday. That said, I will say that the episodes capture all of the characters excellently. Peter Parker is still a guy (just like the rest of us) who has his fair share of problems (can't get a girl, can't get a job, unintentionally makes situations worse than they are, and needs money to support his aunt) while trying to do the right thing at all cost. While Spider man, his "banter through the fight" routine is as amusing as ever. Aunt May is still a lovable old woman who is very protective of her nephew, Flash Thompson is still the typical high school jock who gives Peter trouble whenever possible, and J. Jonah Jameson is still a hilarious gentleman who will do practically anything to sell a paper. There have also been plenty of updates. Eddie Brock is now someone who went to the same high school with Peter Parker before going to college; Eddie is practically the big brother Peter never had. Gwen Stacy is now one of Peter's best friends. And Electro and the Vulture actually have real back stories now. In short, this series has come with plenty of improvements.

There were a few problems which I had, but these problems are incredibly insignificant; I thing the theme song is mediocre as well as the guy who voices Harry Osbourne.

Overall, great show. To Parents: Spider-man is a great role model for your children, so if you catch your kids watching this, I'd advise you pull up a chair and join in on the fun; Super Hero series don't get any better than this.

I want to give this show a 9.5, but since IMDb does not allow me to do this, I suppose I'll just have to round my rating up to 10. If you're new to the Spider-Man mythos, this series is just what you need. For those who have been fans for a long time, you'll love it (especially if you've had to abandon the Spider-man comics due to the idiotic events of "One more Day." I highly recommend this series. recommend to people of all ages.
