Trivia:
Michelle Ryan puts on an American accent for her role as Jaime Sommers. In Episode 5, "The Education of Jaime Sommers", however, she speaks in her natural English accent, a fact to which subtle references are made throughout the episode. When Jonas (Miguel Ferrer) tells Jaime she is to pose as an exchange student from Oxford, he asks her "How's your British accent?". When Nathan ('Kevin Rankin') is talking to Jaime over the radio and asks her why, when they are the only ones there, she is still speaking in a British accent, Jaime replies "Because I'm a method actor". moreFAQ

The pilot of the new Bionic Woman feels like it was made in 1997, i.e. it's not too old but nor does it feel new either. It brings nothing fresh to the table, and feels like it's trying to imitate other shows but not very well.
The influences of Dark Angel and Alias are clearly felt in the pilot, but both of those had compelling lead characters in involving situations. Bionic Woman has neither. The lead actress just isn't involving, and her character goes from being hysterical about her situation to confident within about ten minutes. To play the 'tough but vulnerable' card has been done before, and so much better elsewhere.
Story-wise it's very much the same. What is new, or exciting? Nothing. Shady organisations, seen it all before. Her special powers? Well, she can run fast. How about something a little more 21st century? Katie Sackhoff played a quite interesting character in the pilot, but is largely lifted from Battlestar Galactica. Sadly her character is more interesting than the lead, so outshines her on her own show.
But really, I don't feel the pilot had anything new or interesting to offer. I also didn't feel the pilot gave a lot of scope of what's to come. Maybe I'll be proved wrong, but I doubt I'll tune in to find out, and I doubt this show will last.
