A few days ago, it was confirmed that Platinum Dunes had found it's new Freddy Krueger, and it's Oscar nominated actor Jackie Earle Haley. (Watchmen's Rorschach, fiends!) Earlier this morning, producer Brad Fuller checked in via the official Platinum Dunes blog over on Bloody-Disgusting's site to address the recent casting news.
"It should come as no surprise then that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Krueger. He was the only person we ever considered for the role. I realized that he was Only person who could play the role. We can't make all the fans happy, but those of you who are open to a new version of the Nightmare story have to be as excited as we are. Hot on B-d's report that Jackie Earle Haley is in final negotiations to play Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street, we may have some more casting news for the day! Bloody-Disgusting says that actor Kyle Gallner (who most recently faced some pesky poltergeists in The Haunting In Connecticut) is in final talks to play the character of Quentin. According to B-d's post, the Quentin character hosts a podcast and would be the equivilant to the Johnny Depp character Glen Lantz of the original.
Gallner is definitely making a name for himself, both in and out of the genre. Besides The Haunting Of Connecticut, Gallner's also appeared in Red (based on the Jack Ketchum novel), Raw Feed's Sublime and will next be seen in Jennifer's Body, the Diabo Cody scripted/Megan Fox starring flick. On TV, he played the teenage version of The Flash »

Sublime is the first feature directed by Tony Krantz who is best known for his work as a producer. The film like Rest Stop (which he produced) is another production from the Raw Feed stable. How ever unlike its stalemate which draws on the generic and mixes the supernatural with gore porn pretty unsuccessfully, Sublime is an all together different Beast. Sublime I am pretty sure will be one of those "love it or hate it films" and although it’s a "horror" movie I get the feeling a lot of the hate will come from horror fans confused by its complete failure to pay attention to many of the unwritten rules of modern mainstream horror filmmaking. Apart from its bending of genre rules its also fairly unique in that although the cover of the DVD may suggest otherwise this film is really not aimed at a teenage demographic at all. »
