Doctor Who: Four to Doomsday: Part 2 starts with the revelation that the alien Urbankans can change their form, the Doctor (Peter Davison) is suspicious of their motives as they head towards Earth. The Urbankan leader Monarch (Stratford Johns) claim their own planet of Urbank died out 1000's of years ago & all 3 billion of their race is on board along with a population of human robots lead by Greek philosopher Bigon (Philip Locke) who seems to have something to tell the Doctor about Monarch's plans...

This Doctor Who adventure was episode 6 from season 19 that aired here in the UK during early 1982, directed by John Black I think Four to Doomsday is alright but nothing special. The script by Terence Dudley has the Doctor & Tegan watching various dance routines which are supposed to represent the different cultures of Earth for the majority of this episode & it's not a good sign that we're only into Part 2 & it feels like there's padding already. The story isn't the most exciting & while it's obvious Monarch is the bad guy he hasn't actually done anything yet & his motives & plans are still unclear, I don't really see much here in this episode to like to be honest although at least the cliffhanger ending is better than the one from Part 1.

The special effects so far have been pretty good, this one hasn't gone for scares & it's rather limp stuff at the moment with lots of shots of people walking around the spaceship.

Four to Doomsday is plodding along at a rather sedate pace & isn't really doing much for me, still there's a couple of episodes left so hopefully it'll improve.
