Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Director Joe Lynch originally wanted to have more inbred characters in the film, but was unable to because there were already too many characters to service in the film. more
Goofs:
Factual errors: When Kimberly Caldwell calls her agent he complains that it's 4am in Los Angeles. She's driving in West Virginia, and the shadow the car casts indicates the sun is directly overhead, so it's about midday (the shadow sits under the car in every shot). However, if it's 4am in LA, it should be 7am in West Virginia, so the sun should cast long shadows. more

A direct to video sequel that's better than the original, 19 January 2008
7/10
Author: TheatreX from Louisville, KY

"Wrong Turn" had its charms (ick) but "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End", is actually better in many ways. It's still a derivative film, which borrows from TCM, etc., but still, one character has already had her face bitten off & has been lopped in half before the opening credits are finished running, egad! The premise is that a bunch of young folks are out in West Virginia to film a pilot for a "reality TV show" that's one of these survival things, and the gist is that they're supposed to survive off the land & stuff; I doubt there was any mention of having to fend off crazed mutated hill-folks to win the prize, otherwise they'd probably not have chosen to participate. Some participants do happen across some yummy barbecue over an open fire though, mm-mm, those folks sure do know how to cook up a mean barbecue. Warning: never eat found barbecued meat while wandering through the woods. Henry Rollins (former singer for Black Flag, like THIRTY YEARS AGO!) is still a formidable presence, he plays an ex-Marine & the host of our little show. There's lots of gore & mayhem although it's carried out much more imaginatively than your usual "slice & dice" fare. There's even some time for a bit of character development, too. The wooded setting is a much better scenario for rampaging mutant hill folk than the desert too (e.g. Hills Have Eyes). Pretty impressive stuff for direct to video. This should have been released to theaters & not crap like "Hills Have Eyes 2". 7 out of 10.
