I have never seen the TV series, so I don't have any preformed idea about how this move should be. This movie's rating is too low for its good work, that is for sure. This is the reason why I wrote this comment.
Those two main characters are pretty good looking, so they are nice just to look at. And their acting skills are not bad at all, pretty natural, not faked. Their southern accents sound real which made this movie a little more fun to watch.
This movie can be timeless, because it didn't mention any special time or year. Of course, you shouldn't expect everything they did in the movie can really happen in real life. If you just watch it for the fun, then you will enjoy it as much as I did. And I also like the extra short video "Dukes in drag". It reminded me of the movie called "Sorority boys", those two Dukes looked much better than the sorority boys.
