What up world! It's your boy tWitch taking some time off on the set of Stomp The Yard 2, to share my thoughts about last night's performance episode of Sytycd with the masses. I am so happy to hear that Dizzy Feet is moving forward with such force! Sounds like a wonderful event on Nov. 29! Not only happening for a good cause, it's a wonderful night of dance. Quest, Alvin Ailey, Sytycd, Dancing with the Stars and America's Best Dance Crew all under one roof? Wow! For this being the first "voter show," all of the performers were definitely connecting with each other and with us, the audience, whether in studio or at home. In the first piece, there were tons of dope lift sequences. I agree with Adam Shankman when he said that he finally saw Kevin tonight. The couple worked so well together and both had great moments. In 2002, hip hop star Eminem impressed a helluva lot of people with his work in the sort-of-biographical drama, "8 Mile." He's been relatively quiet on the Hollywood front since then, other than a few publicity stunts. All that is about to change however, as Eminem is preparing to return to the silver screen.
Next up for Slim Shady is "Shady Talez," a 3-D horror anthology described as "'Twilight Zone' meets 'Creepshow'" by ScreenDaily, which broke the news. The project is a collaboration between "I, Robot" producer John Davis and writer/producer Dallas Jackson, under the D.J. Classicz/Davis Entertainment label. Jackson will co-write the story with "Underworld" creator Kevin Grevioux; the duo will also produce a four-issue comic book miniseries based on the movie under the Marvel Icons label, for a 2010 release.
ScreenDaily doesn't have many more details on "Shady Talez" to share beyond that. D.J. Classicz »

What is up world? It's your friendly neighborhood tWitch here, about to share my thoughts on So You Think You Can Dance's performance episode. I am currently in Atlanta, filming Stomp The Yard 2, but I will still be making sure to check in on you. I am very excited to see Jamal Sims on the show. I find it refreshing to see the different relationships choreographers see in a duet. The tennis match idea he used in the piece he choreographed for Russell and Noelle was amazing. Tennis is high energy and so was the piece!!! With that high energy, however, comes the challenge of pace and full extension of the moves and choreography. Trust me, I feel the difficulty being a guy that's 6' tall. But in that, you have to know exactly how much time you have to move and plan accordingly. I loved the first wedding dance! »

So You Think You Can Dance alum Stephen Boss, the dancer currently known as tWitch, will star in Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming. That makes sense; if there's going to be a Stomp the Yard 2, tWitch should definitely be in it. Get this though: he'll be playing "Taz, the antagonist." What??? I feel like tWitch has never even been the antagonist in an argument against himself about which smirk goes best with which glasses. The most rage he's ever shown, to our knowledge, was the first and third times he slammed the door on Katee during season 4's "Mercy" door dance, »

Seriously, how can you not love Milla Jovovich? She's beautiful, talented and dedicated to our genre. While she's off shooting her fourth Resident Evil film (Resident Evil: Afterlife), and Universal is pushing out her freaky doc-styled The Fourth Kind (in theaters November 6), she has now been tapped to topline a really, really effin' cool sounding thriller entitled Faces In The Crowd. Milla Jovovich will star in writer-director Julien Magnat's psychological thriller "Faces in the Crowd" for Forecast Pictures, Radar Films and Minds Eye Entertainment. Scott Mednick ("Where the Wild Things Are") is producing alongside Jean-Charles Levy, Clement Miserez and Kevin DeWalt. Sylvain White, who directed "Stomp the Yard," is also onboard to produce and mentor Magnat, who is making his English-language helming debut with the project, which he also penned. More »

Stepping is coming back to the big screen. In the "Stomp the Yard" sequel, "Stomp the Yard: Homecoming," new feuds are about to get settled the only way they should: on the dance floor.
Star Columbus Short is returning for the sequel, but director Rob Hardy wouldn't share who else would be back for more stepping action. "As far as the actors coming back, well, there might be some familiar faces," he said when MTV News caught up with him at auditions for the film. "Keep in mind, this is four years after the first one took place, so a lot of those guys graduated. But because it is homecoming, you're sure to see a lot of familiar faces from the first one popping up on the screen. »

Hey guys, I made it back from my two-week trek through Japan, and I'm still a bit jet-lagged -- which means I was up earlier on a Saturday morning than I've been in a very long time. So I thought I would go through and collect a bunch of the news stories that we may have missed over the past week or so. Kasper, Greg and Jay did a pretty good job of keeping you guys in the loop, and to be honest, there weren't a ton of major headlines anyway. I was able to send out some of these via my Twitter account [1] while I was away, but from here on in I'll be back to my usual daily posting routine throughout the week. Note: The next podcast will not be recorded until Monday night since Jay is still away at the Flyway Film Festival [2] in Wisconsin, where his »

I know this is absolutely no news to you, but I like to repeat it every now and then: there is absolutely no hope left for Hollywood. The sloppy sequels and remakes are winning, and it gets worse every day.
As you may have heard, Sylvain White's "Stomp the Yard" is getting a sequel too, and the film now officially has a director: Rob Hardy, who helmed 2005's "The Gospel" and produced the first "Yard."
The follow-up to the mediocre drama is titled "Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming," and as The Hollywood Reporter points out, Columbus Short ("Armored") may return as a talented street dancer.
No need to explain what happened in the first film, because you can guess it already from these few words: street dancer, college, and zzzzzzzzz.... The first film bagged more then $74 million, by the way. »

Columbus Short turned in a pretty remarkable performance in last year's Cadillac Records, playing the mercurial early Motown great Little Walter. But apparently he's just not quite ready to take on that serious acting career, as evidenced by his considering a return for Stomp the Yard 2, a movie is that is definitely happening now that Rob Hardy has been hired to direct it. Hardy was an executive producer on the first Stomp the Yard, and has his own scattered directing career behind him, though I have no idea how he plans to handle the street dancing that's pretty much the entire reason for this movie to exist. THR writes that shooting is scheduled to begin in Atlanta next month, even though Short's deal has yet to be signed. Maybe that's why they don't have plot details either? »

It's interesting that just yesterday we posted our coverage of the set visit for Armored which took place February 26 of 2008. While we were on-set, Columbus Short was asked specifically about a sequel to Stomp the Yard . We quote... Q: Have you talked at all about another "Stomp the Yard"? Short: Oh, no. I wouldn't be in it. Q: You wouldn't? Short: No. Come on! Some things are better left alone. I've learned that. I had my share of a sequel. I was in the "Save the Last Dance" sequel. That was cool. You've got to work your way up. (Laughs) Fast forward to today and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that writer/director Rob Hardy will helm the sequel, to be titled Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming . The trade says that Short is now in... »
