Troubled Tyler Rikens (a superbly intense and riveting performance by Anthony Falcon) sinks into a state of total despair and madness. He believes that his wife (lovely Devyn Falcon), daughter, and himself have all been stricken by some strange disease. Rikens tapes video journals of himself talking about his dire predicament. Seeing no way out of his dismal situation, Rikens kills both his wife and child before he commits suicide. Writer/directer Anthony Falcon expertly creates a strong and unsettling mood of complete nihilism and utter hopelessness that stays true to itself to the literal bitter end. The startlingly violent and downbeat conclusion packs a very potent wallop right to the gut. The stark cinematography and spare, shivery score further enhance the overall bleak and disturbing tone. The shots of the wife tied to a chair with duct tape on her mouth are especially chilling. Unpleasant and unnerving in equal measure, this short certainly gets under the viewer's skin and makes a pretty nasty dent in your memory after you see it.
