Dolls are creepy. This is the basis of many famous horror movie series: Child's Play, Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, and so on. However, the Twilight Zone did it firstand likely best.
I have to say this is probably the best episode in a series where I find many of the episodes sloppy or dull. It is scary, for one thing: atmosphere is built up wonderfully, and the doll is very frightening due to a grinding voice and some terrific lighting.
The characters are well-drawn, too, and the story is well-written, so it's more than just a chance for the SFX guys to show off. The acting is terrific and the story engaging. This is one even for those who normally don't like the Twilight Zone or find it sub-par.
