This is one of three productions in which Cengiz Khan and Abraham Lincoln appear together as characters, in spite of the fact that Lincoln was born 582 years after the Khan's death. The others are Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) and "Clone High" (2002). moreQuotes:

Captain James T. Kirk: And you're both on the edge of insubordination.
Dr. McCoy: Would I be on the edge of insubordination to remind the captain that this smells of something happening to him that I might not be able to patch back together again.
Scott: Aye!

Well I could hardly call this amazing film-making but having famous figures in earth history transported into the future is exactly what made The Time Tunnel series so good. So that fact alone makes this hour well worth a look. In Time Tunnel, we had General Kirk (Whit Bissell) talk to these figures from the past but Captain Kirk does a reasonable job of it in Star Trek. This episode seems to of improved over the years, I hated it when I was young (in the 1980s) but a recent DVD viewing was rather enjoyed...even that creature was fun to look at!
Barry Atwater would guest star in two episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (a year one ep & a year four ep), both times playing an odd ball guest on the Seaview.
This was the third last Star Trek to screen, the remaining two episodes of the season are worth watching, but to me, The Savage Curtain would of made a nice way to end this series. I have noticed that my IMDb episode reviews of 1960s Star Trek are not always "useful" to all who read them. Let me simply say that I think 1960s Star Trek is a good series but not one of the seven wonders of the world.
However, my IMDb review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) might go down well with those who think I have been too critical of Star Trek.
