Fun Stuff

Trivia:
This episode contains confirmation of a much-speculated upon topic: whether the Enterprise could separate the Engineering section and warp nacelles from the primary vessel. Mentioned in Kirk and Scotty's conversation by communicator, shortly after Kirk beams down to the planet with an away team, and Scotty takes a seat in the captain's chair on the bridge. more
Goofs:
Revealing mistakes: When Kirk and Spock are kneeling in the bushes watching the villagers feed Vol, at one point, for a few seconds, one of the villagers is transparent, as if his image was superimposed into the scene. more
Quotes:
McCoy: Spock, I don't agree with you at all.
Spock: That's not unusual, Doctor.

Discard the Warp drive and Nascelles if necessary, 5 August 2006
5/10
Author: david-3203 from United Kingdom

Kirk tells Scotty to do this- indicating the possibility of separating the saucer section

This never happened in the Classic series.

I wonder if this is the only such reference in the Classic series?

I have attempted Google searches

I have not been able to come up with any prior references to this

II only noticed it in a re-run on British TV.

Surely some other nerd will have seen it before ?? !!

David Soul makes a guest appearance He does a mean demonstration of smashing a head using a melon (note the presence of Melons and sun tans in paradise!)
