Ruthless Spock Plays Sherlock Holmes, 23 June 2008
10/10

"Mirror, Mirror" is one of the strongest episodes of Season # 2. It's justly famous for its innovative exploration of an alternative universe, which is an often-used narrative device in science fiction. In this episode, a landing party (headed by Kirk) is accidentally sent to a dimension where the Federation is an evil empire ruled by savages. Meanwhile, the alternate versions of the landing party are sent to the 'normal' Enterprise. It's basically two stories intertwined excitingly. While Kirk tries to return to his own Universe, Spock tries to solve the mystery behind the evil Kirk's erratic behavior. Seeing a ruthless version of our beloved Mr. Spock (with a pronounced goatee) is the highlight of the episode. Nimoy has a great opportunity to flex his acting muscles. Also, we get to see more of Uhura and Sulu. It's definitely one of the best episodes of the old series.
