Warren Stevens Gives Year Two A Lift, 27 April 2006

The lead male alien in this episode is played by Mr Warren Stevens who is one of my favourite 1960s/1970s TV guest stars. From The Outer Limits Y2 to Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Y1/Y3/Y4 to The Time Tunnel to Land Of The Giants Y1/Y2 to The Return Of Captain Nemo to The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman, this guy did it all with class and his large body of his work makes this Forbidden Planet star a big part of screen sci-fic/screen comic strips.

But back to Trek, as well as Stevens we get some great William Shatner stuff in this episode. His come on attempt to an alien girl - "I'm sorry I even brought it up" - is a scream and compares with some of the great Shatner material of all time. And Kirk gets another funny bit at the end.

This is my favourite second season Trek by a mile, due mostly to Warren Stevens and partly to Shatner. The only real negative is that Scotty is too present in this episode. I found Scotty to be okay in the 1980s Trek motion pictures (which were apart of my young adult years) but I find him rather painful in the old TV series. I am guessing this closing remark will make all the IMDb "Trekkers" mark my review as not useful...again? Oh well.
