Intriguing Episode Echoes Roddenberry's Worries, 31 July 2006
9/10
Author: Hal-900 from WA, USA

"A Taste of Armageddon" is high on preaching, but the episode does tackle social issues that were of paramount importance to people living in the troubled 1960s. As a time capsule, it is a very interesting program. In this show, Kirk and his crew interferes with a 500-year-old conflict between two Planets. The anti-war tone of the story is easily detectable, but it does not distract. In other words, it is an excellent example of creator Roddenberry's desire to use the show as a vehicle for social commentary. It is strongly written and performed. I particularly like Shatner's performance in this show. His tendency to overemphasize every word is perfectly suited for this show. It is an interesting episode whose message does not interfere with the entertainment value of the piece. Highly Recommended.
