The third fantastic episode of a DC Comics hero, 21 April 2008
9/10
Author: Rcwilkinson123 from United States

Much like the introduction of the character The Flash from the Season 4 episode 'Run,' or Arthur Curry earlier this season, Smallville introduces another superhero from DC Comics lore in Victor Stone, later known as Cyborg.

Clark encounters a lab escapee named Victor, who played against Clark in the football state championship the year before in their senior years of high school. Victor explains that he was part of a fatal crash, and nearly all of his body was destroyed. However, he woke up to a body made up of cybernetic parts, mostly a machine. Victor is retrieved back to the lab despite the intentions of a sympathetic surgeon/scientist, as Lex Luthor intends to do additional studies on the scientific breakthrough. Victor also is concerned about how his former girlfriend will accept his new cybernetic state.

The greatest appeal of this episode was the black-and-white clarity of Clark's willingness to ally with others with unique powers, while Lex, in his continuous turn towards evil, has no problem doing ethically questionable research on such people. Additionally, Victor Stone is a cool character from DC Comics, normally part of some incarnation of the Teen Titans.
