Another great episode from the fifth series of 'One Foot in the Grave'
Victor and Margaret spend the whole episode in a solicitors waiting room. This obviously annoys Victor. For example when he sees a dog urinating on his car, he shouts at the owner and throws a cream cake at him. This makes the man tell his solicitor, who is the same solicitor Victor wants to see, so while they are in the waiting room, a letter comes from the solicitors secretary. Other strange people then come and go from the waiting room, meaning more mayhem for Victor.
This is a typical David Renwick episode. There are several episodes like this that break the rules of sitcom. In the episode 'Timeless Time' Victor and Margaret can't sleep so the whole episode is set in Victor and Margaret's bedroom in the early hours of the morning, in the episode 'The Beast in the Cage', Victor, Margaret and Mrs Warboys spend the whole episode in a traffic jam and in the episode, in the episode 'The Trial' Victor only appears in it, getting into mayhem on his own in the house and in the episode 'Threatning Weather' Victor and Margaret spend it in a power-cut. So in this episode and the others mentioned, there is no plot, just character development, but at the same time it is very funny. Appearing on this episode as someone in the waiting room is Valerie Minifie, who played Anthea, Gary's secretary in the brilliant 'Men Behaving Badly' Best Bit: Victor getting the letter from the solicitor about the cream cakes.
