A slowburning but compelling episode that manages to tug at the heart strings without laying it on too thick. Kim Manners directs with a straight-forward professionalism, but still makes you catch your breath with the odd flourish, the final 'snowing' scene is especially well handled. Greg Walker's script has a batch of neat ideas that are made more effective by not being overused. Tobin Bell is simply brilliant as Slater, he is able to convey more menace through a glance and a pause than a lot of actors could muster with reams of dialogue. The brilliant Michael Puttonen turns in a wonderfully understated performance as Primo and it's little wonder that Chris Carter used him again and again. Reunion isn't as full-on as other episodes in the series, but it slides along nicely and takes you along with it.
