The Murder Mystery Adventure of Heroes and Demons, 13 September 2006
5/10

Everything I said about the previous episode applies to this one, as well. Why the need for all these standalone episodes? It just seems so awkward that Johnny has no other goal in life and talks about nothing else but taking care of these strangers' problems as soon as they arrive. In the previous three seasons there were a few standalone episodes but even those had some storyline furthering sprinkled throughout (Walt moving out of the house for a bit, Johnny getting ready to take on Stillson, Gene Purdey apologizing for his misdeeds). This season so far has none of that. It has merely become The Adventures of Psychic Johnny, Sidekick Bruce, and Sheriff Walt. There's no Sara anywhere, no Gene, no Stillson, no nothing. I'd be satisfied with even Stillson just getting a phone call on what Johnny's been up to and saying, "Thanks for keeping me updated," and that's it, something! Anyway, the grade is a little better than last because Johnny does try to give an explanation on why he should care about this case more than the other thousands than reach him. He says it is because his father died and he doesn't want this guest character's father to die. It's a bit weak, as there are many people that contact him who I'm sure are also fathers, but at least they dedicated a few seconds to resolve why Johnny should care. And how do these people get to Johnny's doorstep so easily? If anyone could, anyone should, and Johnny should be getting better security, or else the writers shouldn't have painted him as so famous because his open door policy coupled with his famousness does not sit logically. Oh well, hopefully I will be able to forget about these baby gripes and this season will give me something to sink my teeth into even before the finale. Fingers and toes are crossed…
