After a man breaks into a restricted area, and drinks a strange vial of liquid, he gains the ability to turn people into clay with a mere touch. After some investigating, Barbara connects this man to a long-time inmate of Arkham Asylum, Clayface. But Clayface holds more than the key to finding the fugitive. He holds a dark secret. He and Helena have met before.
This is a cracking episode. When I learnt that Clayface was going to be in this series I was expecting his appearance to be a real disappointment. But I think they have done a very good job of bringing the character to the screen. He's played as a kind of Hannibal Lecter-style monster.
I don't know if the creative team on Birds of Prey knew at this point that the series was to be cancelled but it certainly seems that way. A lot of personal issues for the characters seem to be getting resolved in a way that leads me to believe that they did. At any rate, it's clear that they upped their game for both this episode and the finale.
Mia Sara is brilliant as Harley Quinn, and you can sense that she is about to let herself 'off the leash', so to speak. Both 'Reunion' and 'Feat of Clay' have been highly entertaining and almost make me wish the series had not been cancelled. But I also have to ask myself whether or not these final episodes would have been as good if the makers of the show hadn't known they were getting cancelled.
