Trivia:

The Deeper Well is a reference to the Emmylou Harris song from her album 'Wrecking Ball'. It's about religion, about the well of souls. more

Goofs:

Factual errors: Spike is looking down at the "hole in the World" that's the cemetery of demons. He imagines that at the antipodes a New Zealander could have the same view but reversed. But he's in England, and the antipodes of England are in open Pacific Ocean. The antipodes of New Zealand is actually southern Spain. more

Quotes:

Winifred 'Fred' Burkle: Would you have loved me?
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: I've loved you since I've known you. No, that's not-I think maybe even before.
Winifred 'Fred' Burkle: I'm so sorry.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: No, no, no.
Winifred 'Fred' Burkle: I need you to talk to my parents. Th-they have to know I wasn't scared, th-that it was quick. That I wasn't scared. Oh, God.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: You have to fight. You don't have to talk, just concentrate on fighting. Just hold on.
Winifred 'Fred' Burkle: I'm not scared. I'm not scared. I'm not scared. Please, Wesley. Why can't I stay?

This was by far and away the saddest episode in the series. Why did they have to kill Fred? She was so cute. I waited for so long to see Wes & Fred hook up and they kill her right after it happens. Fred finally realized that Wesley was perfect after wasting all that time with Gunn in Season 4. Seeing her slowly be eaten away at and die in Wesley's arms actually made my eyes water. What's bad enough is that Wes again gets the shaft. Virginia breaks up with him while he's recovering from getting shot in season 2. Justine cuts his throat and everyone abandons him in season 3. He has to chop Lilah's head off after a possessed Cordy kills her in season 4. However, Wes never had anywhere near the feelings for Lilah that he did for Fred. The fact that there was nothing Angel & the gang could do to save her was such a downer. As if killing off Cordy wasn't bad enough, we are forced to lose yet another pretty face to a BS storyline. This episode almost made me want to stop watching the show.
