When I saw this film it was part of a bigger screening of dance short films and, after seeing one or two that could only be called "dance" by the loosest definition of movement and music, it was refreshing to see an enchanting and engaging collection of dance moves filmed against a range of urban backdrops. The whole film is Ben Milepied dancing on a roof top, in a park, by a river and in the street. His ballet looks good but he is greatly helped by the imaginative use of locations that help make it look all the more interesting. Not all of it is brilliant (scenes of him running up stairs don't require too much talent) but the majority is lovely to watch.
Simola has used a variety of techniques to film the motion and the camera is generally as fluid as the dancer himself and, mixed with the locations, it makes the whole thing feel free and airy. Overall a lovely short film for those that have at least a passing interest in dance. The outdoor locations are well used and the movement of dancer and director work together surprisingly well.
