Parents Guide for
Disturbia (2007) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Note: The number at the beginning of each section refers to how explicit that aspect of the film is on a scale of 1-10. The fraction at the end of the Frightening/Intense Scenes category is the total sum of all the sections out of the highest sum possible (50) and therefore an approximation of how much explicit content of any kind is in the film.

Rating: 5

A boy and girl make out, they go to the bed and kick off their sneakers. Its obvious theyre about to have sex but it never happens.

Ashely takes off her bra, but it is seen from the back side.

Mild sexual references, jokes, etc throughout.

We hear Kale moaning going "oh yeah come on" but we can't see him. when we do see him, it turns out he was actually just scratching his leg, not masturbating as the scene implies.

We see a man starting to have an affair with his maid.

Violence & Gore

Rating: 7

A mutilated corpse is shown on a computer.

A boy is hit on the head with a baseball bat.

A man's head is clawed and he bleeds.

Kale finds his mom gagged and bound up by her wrists. Just then, the killer suddenly shows up behind her. He pushes her aside and swings something at Kale, but misses. His next attempt, however, slices Kale (we don't see the impact, but hear his reaction) and he then pushes Kale into an earthen wall. Julie then stabs something into the killer's leg, with him then knocking her back, but that allows Kale to stab his large garden shears into the killer's body. He then pushes the killer back into a body of liquid where he presumably drowns (or dies first from the shears wound).

Profanity

Rating: 4

At least 3 partial or incomplete "f" words, 28 "s" words, 1 slang term for breasts (what sounded like "bags"), 8 asses (many of which are sound-alikes for the Spanish word for "perhaps"), 3 hells, 2 S.O.B.s, 1 crap, and 1 damn.

even though it shows all these bad words the movie isnt just swear after swear, in one part it is when kale is running home. but nothing bad for teens

Rating: 2

Spying on Turner getting out some wine or champagne for his date in his place, Kale jokes that he's going to get his date all liquored up.

Rating: 9

Their are a few startling scenes in the movie but nothing too disturbing. A major thing of the movie is the suspense. Their are many moments you are unaware of what is going to happen or what is going to happen. Some people might find it disturbing seeing the killer murder someone even though you don't see anything. You just see the shadow of it from behind a curtain.

An idea of how accurate the TECE (below) is: 5-10 is a little-kid suitable, G-Rated type of film (i.e. Care Bears, Sleeping Beauty); 10-15 is going to be a little harsher, but not by much (i.e. The Incredibles); 15-20 could be pretty high up there (i.e. Indiana Jones), 20-25 is going to pretty darn adult (i.e. Being John Malkovich); 25-30 is going to be a film most likely not suitable for anyone under 15 (i.e. this); 30-40 is going to be an absolutely, positively adults-only film (i.e. Inglorious Basterds) and if a movie has ever gone past 40, then it is a high R/ NC-17 (Pulp Fiction)

Total: 27/50
