I would love to see Hugh Jackman in a boxing movie. It seems like he's long past due for one given his physical prowess, and he'd be a good fit for a Cinderella Man sort of tale. Unfortunately, he's decided to pursue the sport through robots and Shawn Levy, as Variety reports that he's in line for Real Steel.
Based on a story by Richard Matheson, Real Steel is probably best described as Rocky meets Wall-e and The Iron Giant. Jackman plays a professional boxer who has to hang up the gloves, and rearranges his life when human boxers are replaced by 2000 pound robots. Our obsolete fighter tries to go with the flow, and becomes a Robot Boxing promoter, but success constantly eludes him because all he can afford are crappy robot parts. Then one day, he discovers a discarded robot who has a distinct gift for winning. Wouldn't you know it, »

If you’re a huge fan of director Christopher Nolan and have dreamed about standing on a movie set and watching him direct, you’re about to possibly spend a lot of money. That’s because The Pablove Foundation is auctioning off (for charity) an amazing opportunity to go to the set of his new movie “Inception” and not only watch him work, but you’d also have lunch with him. While the set visit would be a quick two hours, this is definitely an amazing opportunity as the set of “Inception” is closed to all outsiders and you’d probably get to see some really cool stuff. Also, you’d be able to have an intimate chat with this brilliant director and you’d be in the unique position to ask him all the questions every fan wants to know like is he going to make “Batman 3″ and who are the villains! »

Earlier this week I wrote about Werner Herzog's Guerilla Film School, which consists of a long weekend soaking up the wisdom of the great German director. Well, here's another chance for one-on-one auteurist mind meld. The Pablove Foundation, which raises money for and awareness of children's cancer, is auctioning off a visit to the set of Chris Nolan's next film and lunch with the director. You and a guest can watch him film and ask him stuff about The Dark Knight, Memento, or for a little more clarity on the ending of The Prestige. The set visit will occur the week of October 12. Visit the Pablove Foundation's eBay site for more info and for other auctions. This auction closes September 30, and bidding is up to just over $500. »

Actress Rebecca Hall first gained wide recognition for her role in the The Prestige as the spurned wife of Christian Bale's magician, but it was her performance in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona as the adventurous Vicky that earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress.
Thanks to Vicky, Hall is in high demand. She's starred in two features, has completed filming a third, and is currently filming Ben Affleck's The Town. Now, Hall is in talks to star in Richard Linklater's (Slackers, A Scanner Darkly) latest movie, Liars, about a woman who is dumped by her fiancé the night before Barack Obama's presidential election victory. The relationship crisis motivates her to take a road trip to Obama's inauguration with a gal-pal (played by Kat Dennings), stopping along the way to reclaim personal items she left with ex-boyfriends..

Chicago – There was talk of a sequel even before “The Dark Knight” hit theaters and obliterated box-office records. That’s all we still have at this point, but we also have a pair of decent, fan-made posters for “The Dark Knight” sequel.
Though IMDb lists the poster above in its entry for the next “The Dark Knight” film, which is
currently being called “The Dark Knight Returns” or the “Untitled Batman Project,” this image
is a fan-made creation and can be found in this GameSpot discussion thread on Aug. 30, 2008.

Though so much of the project is still up in the air and unofficial, what’s currently being called “The Dark Knight Returns” (which may or may not be the sequel’s actual title) or the “Untitled Batman Project” (as it’s now listed on IMDb) has a fan-made poster above that dates back at least to Aug. »

Chicago – Riding off the ravenous wave of the explosively successful “The Dark Knight,” Warner Bros. has released a new teaser trailer you’ve got to see. It’s for the 2010 psychological sci-fi action-thriller titled “Inception” from “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan.
“Inception” features a star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page (“Juno”), Cillian Murphy (“Sunshine”), Joseph Gordon-Levitt of “(500) Days of Summer,” Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), Ken Watanabe, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine (“The Dark Knight”). Emma Thomas is a producer of “Inception,” which is written, directed and produced by Christopher Nolan (“The Dark Knight,” “The Prestige,” “Batman Begins,” “Insomnia,” “Memento”).
“Inception” is slated to hit theaters on July 16, 2010. Watch the new “Inception” teaser trailer below, see a screenshot we created from the trailer and read the film’s synopsis as we know it now!

In a Deadline.com article describing Warner Bros’ Jeff Robinov restructuring of DC Comics, some interesting details were mentioned concerning Christopher Nolan’s filming schedule:
Of Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League, only Batman has an ongoing live action franchise. And now that director Chris Nolan is working on back-to-back pics, who knows when the threequel will get a start date.
The article indicates that Nolan will begin directing another film soon after the completion of Inception in December. What’s even more intriguing is the notion that it is not Batman related. If this is true, I suspect it’ll be a smaller project that will only take two or three months to shoot, much like Nolan did with The Prestige from January to April in 2006. This potential second film may even be included in the massive $200 million budget rumored for Inception. »

Do I have any idea what this film is about after viewing this trailer? Nope, not a clue. Am I going to be the first in line to see this? Suffice it to say, you better not be standing even remotely in my way if you value your well-being. Christopher Nolan has quite simply never made a bad movie. Ignoring Joel Schumacher's "do not resuscitate" tag, he singlehandedly revived the Batman franchise. He created a modern-day masterpiece with The Prestige. He has brought intelligence and complexity back into mainstream American cineplexes beginning with Memento and continuing through to his latest success, The Dark Knight. This teaser trailer, albeit brief, looks to not disappoint. The release date of July 2010, a little more so. »

I thought we were done with the crazy Batman 3 rumors, but it seems like the recent release of the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's next film, Inception, has excited the rumor mill. First up is Ain't It Cool News, risking it's geek rep on a rumor that Christopher Nolan is planning to shoot the entire third chapter of his Batman series with full IMAX cameras (no, not the fake digital variety). While we don't have any idea if this is true, the idea shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as Nolan has said that he's wanted to shoot an entire film using IMAX for years. Before The Dark Knight, he even shot a couple test shots on The Prestige using the IMAX camera to get a sense of that the issues were going to be. And for The Dark Knight, Nolan originally planned to shoot five of the scenes »

Christopher Nolan has evidently returned to his roots with Inception, the first teaser for which premiered with some prints of Inglourious Basterds this weekend. The architect of some staggeringly high-concept movies (Memento, The Prestige and some little-known, hardly-watched flick called The Dark Knight), Nolan has kept the details of his latest mindscape under tight control and certainly doesn’t let up now. All we know is that the movie has a pretty amazing cast and Nolan has definitely seen The Matrix. This one-minute teaser is open to interpretation, but we’ll leave that to you: »

Yahoo! Movies just released the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s cerebral sci-fi film Inception.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard, details of Nolan’s latest project have been shrouded in mystery since the film was announced in February. The only nugget of information worth noting is this Matrix/Philip K. Dick-esque puzzler: it takes place “within the architecture of the mind.”
Confusing? Bewildered? Annoyed? Well, you won’t much relief in this teaser which, besides looking great, still doesn’t give viewers any indication of the story. That may be great new for those who hate previews for divulging all three acts in a 30-second spot.
Nolan’s new film is viewed as a “break” before he starts work on a third entry in the highly popular (and profitable) Batman series. This is nothing new for the director, who rejected outcries from rabid Bat fans wanting a »

Your mind is the scene of a crime. Lucky for us, there is no crime being committed against the art of cinema here, as The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan is finally in the game with a trailer for his new film, Inception. Until today -- or this weekend, for those who saw it in theaters -- all we knew about Inception was that it was "set inside the architecture of the mind." Now we know that it includes some sort of a dreidel reference, Leonardo DiCaprio having some wild visions, and two guys fighting in a hallway, Matrix-style. Where does that leave us? With a continued trust that Christopher Nolan, who before he brought us The Dark Knight gave us films such as Memento and The Prestige, will not lead us astray. He's a great storyteller who is following the second highest grossing film of all-time with an aggressive science fiction pic. And »

Twentieth Century Fox and Hugh Jackman are teaming up for a contemporary musical about P.T. Barnum titled The Greatest Showman on Earth. Jackman is producing with the studio like he did on X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Jackman will play the famous entertainer who promoted public hoaxes and created the traveling circus. The musical production will also show Barnum’s love for singer Jenny Lind, which is being scripted for actress Anne Hathaway. Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City) is writing the script and Fox is considering British songwriter Mika to write the music and lyrics, according to Variety. Think The Prestige with more show tunes.
Bicks, Jackman, and producer Laurence Mark (Dreamgirls) worked together on the Emmy-nominated 81st annual Oscar telecast and will re-team for this film.
Jackman and Hathaway performed together in the opening number when he hosted the awards show. Since then Jackman has been keen to star »

We haven't talked about Christopher Nolan's new project Inception in quite a while and, well, that's just not right, so here's something to chew on! This isn't all that surprising, considering Hans Zimmer scored both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but it is still exciting to hear. The Upcoming Film Scores blog has confirmed that Zimmer is scoring Inception via a press release recently released by Warner Brothers (which I can't seem to find online anywhere else). Nolan previously used David Julyan as the composer for his other non-Batman movies, including Memento and The Prestige, however Zimmer is also a fine choice! Inception started shooting a few weeks ago with a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Berenger. If you're trying to uncover where it might be shooting, good luck, because I heard he's in »

Warner Bros. has revealed in a recent press release that Hans Zimmer is composing the score for Christopher Nolan's upcoming science fiction opus Inception, starring Leonardo di Caprio, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine and Tom Berenger. This means that Nolan continues his working relationship with Hans Zimmer after their two Batman films together rather than returning to David Julyan, who scored his other films, including Memento and The Prestige. Principal photography on the film began a couple of weeks ago and the film is scheduled to premiere next summer. »

A few days ago Gary Oldman, while on The Book of Eli panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, let a rather big piece of “news” slip: that the sequel to The Dark Knight, which is being referred to as Batman 3 (until titled otherwise) would be shooting next year.
However, later Mr. Oldman recanted his rather brash and out-of-left-field statement when he told Ain’t It Cool News, “Well, I’m sure they want to do another one… it might [be] 2 or 3 years…”
If what Oldman said was true, and assuming he didn’t mean the very end of the year, that would mean Batman 3 would start shooting just as Christopher Nolan was getting done with Inception, and right about the time that movie was getting it’s release next July. Nolan isn’t the type of director’s to rush (he’s only directed 7 movies to date if you include Inception »

BusinessWire (via NolanFans and The Playlist) is reporting that prolific film composer, Hans Zimmer, has been tapped to score Christopher Nolan’s upcoming secretive thriller, Inception. Of course, this isn’t really a surprise considering Zimmer worked with Nolan on both his Batman movies, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Inception is Nolan’s new movie that could aptly be summed up as “mysterious.” With a few small character details aside, and a central story that focuses on blackmailing, the only real line of info we’ve had to go on is that it’s, “a contemporary sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind.”
Even The Riddler would have trouble working that one out…
Although like I said, it’s no surprise that Zimmer is (apparently) scoring Inception since he scored Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (the latter along with James Newton Howard), The Playlist »
