Ever since a live-action, 3D Yogi Bear movie was announced back in February this year, there hasn’t really been any movement on the news front regarding it. However, fast forward to now and we may have our main cast in the form of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake.
Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the titular character in Yogi Bear, with Faris set to play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of Yogi in the fictional Jellystone Park. Timberlake is also in talks to join the project, possibly playing Yogi’s sidekick, Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center of the Earth), and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield (aim high, why don’t you?).

The creator of the landmark cable series talks about the new Complete Series DVD set, Terriers and more.
Back in 2002, a series aired that changed the face of television and became my favorite TV series of all time - Hands Down - The Shield. For seven seasons I was absolutely riveted by the exploits of the Strike Team in the fictional Los Angeles district of Farmington, and that of their leader Vic Mackey, played to utmost perfection by Michael Chiklis. Sadly, the TV series came to an end last fall, with a series finale that is, in my opinion, the single best series finale in TV history ( to read my farewell piece to this amazing series) and now viewers can relive the TV magic with The Shield: The Complete Series, which hits the shelves in a massive 28-disc set on November 3. I was fortunate enough to have an exclusive »

Who knows how this will play out, but it's certainly one of the stranger developments to come along in a while. Kenny Ortega recently bailed on the Footloose remake - and based on the so-so performance of This Is It to this point, you have wonder if he's rethinking that - leaving Paramount to look elsewhere for a director. Now, my first thought would be to find someone with related experience and not a filmmaker known for his hardcore rated R movies.
So when the news (from The Hollywood Reporter by way of the Memphis Commerical Appeal) broke that producers might be focusing on Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan director Craig Brewer, I have to admit, I was really surprised. I don't think I even need to explain why. However, as we wrote earlier the week, there was an issue over the tone of the update of Footloose, with »

Director Kenny Ortega has decided to keep his Sunday shoes on his feet. The remake of 1984 dance musical “Footloose” is now looking for a new director as Ortega has decided to move on to other projects ever since he’s moved on from the “High School Musical” films with a one-two punch of this weekend’s “This Is It” and the possibility of directing the adaptation of the “meatier” Broadway hit, “In the Heights”.
So who will bring back Rock n’ Roll to the kids of a small town? It could be the man who knew it was hard out there for a pimp. Hit the jump to find out if “Hustle & Flow” director Craig Brewer may step in to keep “Footloose” dancing.
According to RiskyBusiness, Brewer is high on the list of replacements the studio is considering. Ortega says that the reason he parted ways with Paramount over “Footloose »

Early this week, This Is It director Kenny Ortega bailed on Paramount's remake of Footloose. Seems like a great idea, even if the Michael Jackson movie doesn't become the Dark Knight-sized hit that some have predicted. And yeah, Footloose? A remake? Who needs it? Well, Paramount still seems to, and their shortlist of directors is evidently topped by an unlikely name: Craig Brewer. I remember when Brewer was promoting Hustle & Flow he had some serious ideas about where to go next. But after Black Snake Moan a lot of the possibilities must have dried up. The consolation here is that Brewer isn't the one angling for this job. As THR reports, it is evidently Paramount that is really interested in the director. Is the interest there because he's demonstrated a lot of ability with mixing music and narrative? Or because he could use a big movie and is going ... »

I’ve been saying it for years, but perhaps it should be repeated one more time: The funniest person in Hollywood might just be Justin Long.
For exhibit A, check out the attached clip of a chat I had with Long about “Drag Me to Hell,” the awesome Sam Raimi thriller that hits DVD this week. During our conversation, he brought up a rude, crude, new game that might soon sweep the nation.
“I’ve been playing this movie game, it’s called Poovie,” the Mac pitchman and movie star said with a grin. “I’ll introduce it to you.”
“You come up with movie titles - you don’t change the movie titles - just straight-up movie titles that sound like they have to do with number two,” Long explained, giving us examples of some of his favorite films that also sound like someone possibly describing a bowel movement. »

FX capped a statistically perfect development season on Wednesday (Sept. 30), handing out 13-episode series orders to "Terriers" and "Lights Out." Created by Ted Griffin ("Ocean's Eleven") and Shawn Ryan ("The Shield"), "Terriers" is expected to premiere on FX next summer, while "Lights Out," from the Justin Zackham ("The Bucket List") and Warren Leight ("In Treatment") will premiere in late 2010. "Terriers" stars Donal Logue ("Life") as an ex-cop who joins forces with his best friend, played by Michael Raymond-James ("True Blood"), on an unlicensed private investigation business. FX describes the show, pilot directed by Craig Brewer ("Black Snake Moan"),... »

I was just telling someone the other night how I think Justin Timberlake is a solid actor, but of course that is based on very little. I thought he was the best part of Alpha Dog and he did well in Black Snake Moan, outside of Craig Brewer's decision to leave in that entire final scene, but I can hardly blame that on him. So, it comes with very little surprise that Timberlake along with Adventureland's Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield (Boy A, Lions for Lambs) have joined the cast of David Fincher's Facebook feature The Social Network. Mike Fleming at Variety confirms earlier reports saying Eisenberg will play founder Mark Zuckerberg, Timberlake will play Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became Facebook's founding president, and Garfield will play Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who fell out with Zuckerberg as the social network became a financial juggernaut. »

Oh no. Variety has reported tonight that Columbia Pictures and David Fincher have officially chosen the lead cast for their Facebook movie called The Social Network. They confirm that Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland, Zombieland) will play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Timberlake (Black Snake Moan) will play Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became Facebook’s founding president, and Andrew Garfield (Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Red Riding Trilogy) will play Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who fell out with Zuckerberg as the social network became a financial juggernaut. Production will begin next month in Boston and then move to Los Angeles. Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Cean Chaffin will produce. Kevin Spacey is executive producer. As previously reported, the film will focus on the evolution of Facebook, the social network co-created by Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin in 2004 on the Harvard campus. I had the chance to read the script for a new webseries coming to you by the Ronalds Brothers and starring Judd Nelson, and it was pretty impressive. Now I get to offer up a first look trailer, and knowing what I do about the series, I'm very hopeful for this one. Take a look at some info from the press release, and then check out the trailer. Shot entirely on the new still camera (Canon 5D Mark II), Here & Now is a whimsical web series with a comedic flare. The series stars Judd Nelson who plays a guy that looks like Judd Nelson, and even though he isn’t, on occasion, he uses “Judd’s” identity to woo the ladies. Playing opposite Nelson is Kevin Berman who plays David, a barbershop owner stuck in a rut and looking for a second lease on life. This is a sweet but »

Well it was bound to happen more sooner than later: director David Fincher and company have already started the casting process for their Facebook movie, The Social Network. I’m telling you this project is getting passed quicker than a laxative coated banana through a monkey.
Don’t believe me? Consider this: It was just August 11th that Screen Rant reported on the idea of The Social Network movie. Two weeks later on August 25th, we reported that producer Kevin Spacey had already confirmed a budget of $45 million and a start date of this October.
First Showing has received a good word from their friend Carson Reeves of Script Shadow via his Facebook page in regards to some casting rumors for The Social Network. According to Reeves, upcoming zombie killer, Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), will most likely snag the lead role of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg; while former N’Sync pretty boy, »

Think of it - a cast featuring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake. Even without Timberlake, I would be quite interested in watching Eisenberg and Garfield working together in one film - The Social Network and with David Fincher directing at that! I was quite ecstatic upon hearing this since I had no interest on it before - Shia and Cera to be considered for the roles? Sounds quite boring to me. Even if it's all about the guys from Facebook.
Says Slashfilm which broke the casting news:
Carson Reeves has heard that not only has David Fincher begun casting on the big screen adaptation of The Social Network, but that the cast might already be set. Rumor has it that Jesse Eisenberg has signed to play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (how perfect is that casting?), Andrew Garfield is set to play Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, and Justin Timberlake »

“The Open Road” isn’t the kind of movie I’d go out of my way to see. Nothing against Jeff Bridges or anything. I know as well as you do that the Dude abides. It’s just that dramedies about fathers and sons getting to know one another as adults isn’t what I usually seek out in a major motion picture. I am, to a fault, a genre guy. Though I do like a good vintage romance or comedy, especially from the 1960’s and earlier. I’m thinking about checking out “The Open Road” when it opens this weekend though.
Because Justin Timberlake’s starring in it.
Strange, I know. What twenty-seven year-old man goes to a movie because an ex-boy band member is starring in it as a baseball player? Hey, I like the guy. His “SNL” performances are funnier than most of the past twenty years of the show, »

Justin Timberlake may not have landed the role of the Green Lantern in the forthcoming comic book flick, but come August 28, fans of the singer and actor can check out his latest movie, "The Open Road," out in limited release.
A trailer for the indie film premiered on MSN.com on Tuesday. Timberlake plays Carlton, the estranged son of baseball player Kyle Garrett (Jeff Bridges). Father and son, along with Carlton's lady friend, Lucy (Kate Mara), embark on a road trip. The film also stars Mary Steenburgen as Timberlake's sick mother, who wants to see Bridges' character again.
Timberlake's film career has received mixed reviews thus far. His past acting roles include "Edison," "Alpha Dog," "Black Snake Moan" and "The Love Guru." Next up, he'll be reprising his role »

While Justin Timberlake has already established himself as something of an indispensable satellite member of the SNL cast, his forays into the realm of film acting have been limited to lower-profile affairs, serving mixed results. His notices for Alpha Dog were good, he emerged relatively unscathed playing a Quebecois hockey player in Mike Myers' critically trounced The Love Guru, and bit turns in Black Snake Moan and Southland Tales made no lasting imprint. But Timberlake clearly wants to break on through to the other side, and what the Prince of Pop wants (a shot at), the Prince of Pop gets. Unfortunately for him, the chance to pull on a pair of green tights and save the world slipped through his fingers.
But there's always The Open Road. »

According to a Morgan Stanley report, teenagers lean toward free content and that there are very few things they would pay for. The report cites that teens are very reluctant to pay for music and 80% download it illegally. Most have never purchased a CD. Since teenagers make up a large demographic, movie studios will be happy to know that teens are not looking to download movies illegally. Instead, they are willing to pay to go to the theater. They see it as a way to get together with friends and actually don't care which movie they will see. In fact, most choose the movie when they get to the theater. This may seem bizarre to many of you, but apparently teens care more about hanging out with friends than seeing a movie, which is why some believe "Wild Hogs" did so well. It was released in March of 2007 and was »

There was big talk yesterday that Warner Bros was about to decide who will wear the super-fantastic ring in "Green Lantern." Director Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale"), producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti have spent 5 months searching for the actor to play Hal Jordan, the Air Force pilot chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns.
The top three finalists were Bradley Cooper ("The Hangover"), Ryan Reynolds ("The Proposal," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"), and Justin Timberlake ("Alpha Dog," "Black Snake Moan").
The studio must act quick because their holding deal with the actors would have expired this coming Monday. So act quickly they did, and chose...Ryan Reynolds!
That's right, Deadpool will also be the Green Lantern!
Reynolds beat other contenders such as Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, and Jared Leto. The actor will hold the title of the only thespian »

In a totally unexpected piece of casting news, it's been revealed that Justin Timberlake is among the three final candidates for the role of Green Lantern.
The rumours began on Ain't It Cool News last night and today The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the 28-year-old singer is indeed on the shortlist, along with Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds.
Studio bosses at Warner Bros ordered two sets of screen tests with the three candidates. Other actors under serious consideration included Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Jared Leto.
Director Martin Campbell and producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti have spent the past five months searching for an actor to play the lead role. A decision is expected soon as the holding deal on the actors expired on Monday, meaning the three are now free to accept other offers.
De Line, Campbell and the studio each have a different favourite among the three finalists, »
