Not top notch Lynley, 7 February 2007
Author: Ron Kerrigan (mvg@whidbey.com) from Whidbey Island, Washington

An almost-enjoyable episode, except for one annoying bit that I couldn't quite get over. While neither Lynley nor Havers were officially on-duty, it was sort of understandable why he would be dragged into the investigation. But why Havers had to tag along bothered me through the entire show. I realize the character is written in a certain way, but jeez, can't she comb her hair to have dinner with her boss'es family?

I'd hoped the local inspector Tremaine would show up again in future episodes, but it appears not. The mystery was okay, but I was looking for a sort of closure scene with Lynley and his family as a sort of debriefing. But we go right from the exposure of the killer to a happy family farewell in front of the Lynley estate. An unsatisfying ending.
