Revealing mistakes: Angie's arm gets ripped off by the pterodactyl and you see bloody strands on the severed arm but in the next shot it's clean and neat as if it were cut instead of torn off. moreFAQ

2 stars out of 10.
I've seen monster movies I really enjoyed, Pterodactyl wasn't one of them. It wasn't even awful enough to be unintentionally funny.
I've never seen so much shooting in my life with so little being hit-- at first I thought the pterodactyls must be bullet proof. Even when they did hit one, then the next 5,000 rounds of ammo did nothing.
The film does have some blood and gore in it, and if you have a weak stomach you might want to skip this one. There are graphic scenes of people being torn in half, and pterodactyl hatchlings pecking away at the bloody insides of people, some of whom are, amazingly, still alive.
Only a small group of people see the flying dinosaurs, the creatures seem to remain pretty close to one area. So I don't think they made the evening news.
The special effects are well done, probably by computer, and Coolio is well featured as an army captain. Other than that, there's nothing to recommend this film.
It is overly long with endless scenes of the pterodactyls flying and swooping, the humans running and screaming and endless shooting.
