Fun Stuff

Trivia:

The idea of making this film struck Karan Johar while he was in London. During his trip, he saw the movie Before Sunset (2004), based on a couple who meet after parting ways. After seeing that film, he was out at a restaurant where he overheard a married couple breaking up amicably. The incident moved him and he decided to explore the idea. more

Goofs:

Errors in geography: When Dev is leaving for Toronto from Grand Central Station in NYC, he boards a SEPTA R1 train. SEPTA's R1 only serves Philadelphia, its suburbs and airport. more

Quotes:

Maya Talwar: What did you think before marrying?
Dev Saran: Who thinks before marrying!
[laughing]
Dev Saran: Just kidding. Rhea and me, are friends from college, so we thought we'd give our friendship a new meaning. Besides what can be better than spending your entire life with your friend?
Maya Talwar: But, at times friendship replaces love and then there's no room left for love
Dev Saran: [thinking of way to ease her doubts] Listen to this quote- The sagas of everlasting romances have gone past long ago, just learn to make do with tiny love stories
Maya Talwar: Does that mean you don't love your wife?
Dev Saran: [ponders over her question] hmm
Maya Talwar: You shouldn't take this long
Dev Saran: [laughs] We are happy. We have made our little world together

Hindi movies are not "hindi" anymore, 4 February 2007
8/10
Author: tdh_cognac from India

Will all the other comment writers stop looking at Hindi movies as escapism from their current foreign surroundings and concentrate on the storyteller instead.

Why does everyone in a Hindi movie have to be prudish, why do Indian audiences around the world have to comment on the actions of every actor. why does everything have to be black and white. it is the shades of Gray that make our personalities colorful.

Just when someone tries to make in your face cinema that all goes awry. why is it so hard to accept that love does come without warning like death - as rightly said by the character of amitabh.

yes Shahrukh is surely over the top... but isn't that the reason why he is where he is today. no character has to justify their actions but for the fact that they are driven by their emotions... which is pretty common among common human beings.

full marks to karan for bringing this out and kudos to all in the movie for great performances.

the dialogues are splendidly thought out.

One thing i wonder--- why new york... maybe the same reason why Lamhe was set in London for the radical part of the story ! but the fact is that such stories may happen anywhere from Mumbai to Delhi to Bhutan's... just that we prefer to close our eyes to the same.

watch the movie with rationality... think of the characters as human and yes... you will find 3 hours worth it.
