We haven’t been keeping enough tabs on the adaptation of Red, based on the comic book mini-series created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner and published by DC/Wildstorm between 2003-2004. The film adaptation first popped onto our radar when action man Bruce Willis signed-on to star, followed soon after by the news that acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman would be joining Willis . Completing the trifecta of acting heavyweights, last week we heard that Helen Mirren was onboard for Red; that’s three Golden Globe and/or Oscar-winners coming together for an obscure comic book flick! Crazy, right?
Well it gets even crazier, as we now have more famous names to add to the cast list of Red… Last week news broke that Mary Louise Parker (Weeds) and John C. Reily were in talks for the film, and today we learn (thanks to Collider) that they will be joined by »

Q: I recently watched a new series from USA Network titled White Collar, and I was stunned by the gorgeousness of the lead character, Neal, played by the beautiful Matthew Bomer. I can't seem to find much info about him. Mind to fill in more? -- rcLoy, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A: Bomer is from Houston where his father was a Dallas Cowboy. He was a high school (and, later, acting school) classmate of Pushing Daisies’ Lee Pace. He started on soaps, almost played Superman in the latest Superman movie, and co-starred on the TV show Tru Calling (with Eliza Dushku) and in the movie Flight Plan (with Jodie Foster), and also had a reoccurring role on Chuck.

Casting Tidbits Activate! First up, THR reports that Zach Galifianakis is continuing his hot hiring streak, but this time only his voice will be needed as he's entered negotiations to provide the voice for Humpty Dumpty in the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots at DreamWorks Animation. He joins Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek in a story about the events leading up to the feline assassin's first meeting with Shrek in the second installment of the DreamWorks franchise. Chris Miller (Shrek the Third) will be directing from Tom Wheeler's script, but I'm hoping that there's still some remnants of Brian Lynch's earlier draft of the script. Red Just yesterday Helen Mirren joined up with Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis in the Robert Schwentke directed espionage thriller, and today THR's Heat Vision reports John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) and Mary-Louise Parker (of Showtime's "Weeds") are also set to join them. »

"Walk Hard" star John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds") are reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of “Red”, an adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s miniseries created in 2003 for Wildstorm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reilly would portray a retired CIA agent who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him while Parker would play a federal pension worker who is romantically involved with Bruce Willis’ lead character and becomes entangled in his struggle to evade the high-tech assassins out to kill him. Morgan Freeman is also attached to play a leading role.
“Red” appears to be picking up steam as it heads in front of the cameras in January. Earlier this week, it was announced that Helen Mirren has been cast in a role rumored to be the former handler of Willis’ character. The film is also tentatively scheduled to be released in November »

The cast for the adaptation of Warren Ellis' comic miniseries Red appears to be filling out quite nicely. It began with Bruce Willis, who was signed on from the beginning. Then in April, Morgan Freeman joined the project. Then earlier this week, the lovely Helen Mirren signed on. But wait, that's not all... According to THR's Heat Vision, Red is adding two more great names to the project. John C. Reilly -- who will play a retired CIA agent paranoid about being assassinated; and Weeds temptress Mary Louise Parker, who will play the love interest of Bruce Willis' character. Willis will play Paul Moses, whose plight can be described in the official synopsis below: As a C.I.A. operative, Paul Moses’s unique talent for killing took him around the world, from one hotspot to another, carrying out the deadly orders of his superiors. Q: Ok, I'm a Gleek -- I love the show. But is it only me or are the "adults" on this show really, really annoying (and stupid)? The whole fake pregnancy thing between Mr. Shue and his wife? Wtf? How can a reasonably intelligent man live with, and presumably share a bed with the same women night after night and not catch on? There are definitely some storylines that just detract from the greatness of this show, and most of them (except for Jane Lynch) just need to go away. What are your thoughts? -- Brian B. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's exploration of 'his' river, and Peter Callahan's film Against the Current certainly functions as a stirring tribute to the stunning radiance and history of the river and the Hudson Valley. In what is essentially a three-hander starring Joseph Fiennes (currently in ABC's FlashForward), Elizabeth Reaser (a great actress when she's not playing Robert Pattinson's vampire Mom, Esme, in Twilight and New Moon), and Justin Kirk, (who you love on Weeds). The film starts when Fiennes' Paul Thompson decides he is going to accomplish one thing in his life, and that's swimming the length of the Hudson, from Troy, NY, to the Verrezano Bridge. His best friend Jeff Kane (Kirk), a bartender/aspiring actor, and Liz Clarke (Reaser), a schoolteacher, are along for the (very long) boat ride. And Mary Tyler Moore and Michelle Trachtenberg show up in small roles. »
