Knights of the Old Republic was awesome. Knights of the Old Republic II. . .not so much. It still has the cool engine for conversations and battling. The game starts, and your identity is unknown. Through the game, you should learn who you are and what all these people are saying about your past, but you don't. Somehow you were banished, there was incident on Malachor V, and you were cut off from something. . . I have no idea who I was, and all these relations between characters. Like this person is this persons master, but they served this person, and these people don't like each other, he was Sith, she was a Sith, he wasn't, he's was bad, now he's good . . . .it gets pretty confusing. They also talk about two wars, the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War, and it is somewhat confusing to when these things happened and what came first. The past seems like a jumble, and for a story that relies on a lot of backstory, it would have been nice if they had explained things a bit better.
Don't get me wrong, it was cool to see some cameos from the first game, as well as visit Nar Shaddaa and the other planets. One other thing I didn't like about this game were the tedious one-on-one lightsaber fights. All your character does is miss, and they hit you, and then you take a medpac, and eventually you defeat them. Sometimes you have to beat them multiple times, the fights broken up by dialogue, in which you have no idea what they're talking about. Another thing I didn't like were all the quests you have to do. Like, you'd do one, and you think that you can leave, and then when you go to get your ship, they say "The Ebon Hawk is gone!" I couldn't help sigh and roll my eyes. "More quests? In the end, KOTOR 2 is fun. It's Star Wars and such. The story is good, of what I could understand. The game seems a bit shorter, and the ending leaves you with a whole bunch of questions, but it definitely entertained me for a couple weekends.
