Tom Ford’s ‘A Single Man’ Gets A Beautiful Trailer

8 November 2009 5:59 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Tom Ford is a stylish man who's been around a lot more naked women than I have. I'd cry foul, but he's also been around a lot more naked men so instead I'll just call it even. He's been near the top of the fashion world for years, but now he looks to be expanding his resume by directing and co-writing a film. A Single Man has already received quite a bit of acclaim from showings at various festivals and has finally had it's first trailer released. The film stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode (Watchmen, The Lookout), Ginnifer Goodwin ("Big Love", "Ed"), and Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy, "Skins"). Check it out below. The trailer doesn't give away much (or anything really) about the plot, but it looks absolutely stunning doesn't it? It shouldn't come as a surprise since Ford's other career involves his keen eye for fashion and beauty, but »

20th Century Fox is aiming for a July 2, 2010 release of Knight & Day.

tMF Talkback: Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Two awesome actors in similar mode?

5 October 2009 9:05 PM, PDT | The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news »

If you're going to ask me which movie of Leonardo DiCaprio I remember the most, I'd say - 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', and I'll have to add that even though Johnny Depp headlines the flick, both him and Leo stood out with their heartfelt performances- with DiCaprio earning an Oscar nom for his role. While I am inclined to say that Leo's role appears to be the more challenging, the acclaim he received stems from the fact that he really put himself into Arnie and he became that character.

Jerry Bruckheimer Gets a Shake

30 August 2009 7:04 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Jerry Bruckheimer has picked up rights to Derek Haas' short story titled Shake, and set the writer to develop into a feature-length screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the origin of Haas' story was a new site called Popcornfiction.com that he recently created for TV and film writers to showcase their pulpy short fiction. Among the contributors are Craig Mazin (Superhero Movie), Scott Frank (The Lookout), Jeff Lowell (Over Her Dead Body) and Nichelle D. Tramble (Women's Murder Club).

"I wanted to create a place where new popular short fiction could flourish and Hollywood could have a new resource for cultivating great ideas," Haas says on the site.

Bruckheimer apparently visited the site, loved Haas' story of an FBI agent chasing a killer while he begins to lose control of his own body and bought the idea for a potential Disney film.

No production date has been set. »

Today We’re Totally Crushing On: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

6 August 2009 4:57 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The last time we were “Crushing On” someone, it was Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) from the Harry Potter films. The “Crushing On” series focuses on one relatively unknown or underappreciated actor/actress that may not be popular with mainstream audiences (yet) but that we feel should get some exposure for their work. Today we continue our new semi-regular series “Crushing On” with a name that most people have heard but few people know anything about: Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

It’s really a shame that mainstream audiences haven’t had a chance to fully appreciate Jgl’s work. He has quite an extensive background in acting and is only 28 years old, but has been acting since he was 7 with his first TV debut, Stranger on My Land. For the next four years he played various roles in a gambit of TV shows: Family Ties, Murder She Wrote, China Beach, Quantum Leap and L.A. Law. »

"(500) Days of Summer" review (4/5).

14 July 2009 7:03 AM, PDT | Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news »

Joseph Gordon-Levitt breaks out as romantic hero in sweet '(500) Days' Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt's triumph in the sly, slick, surprisingly old-fashioned romance "(500) Days of Summer" includes a quick wit, sweet displays of romance towards the woman of his dreams as well as believable heartache when relationships don't turn out as planned. Levitt has already proven his skills at hard drama in edgy, indie fare "Mysterious Skin," "The Lookout" and "Manic." He's also showing promise as a filmmaker via his short film "Sparks," which was in competition at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. As Tom, the romantic hero in director Marc Webb's "(500) Days of Summer," Levitt finally combines the impressive comic skills... »

Cool New Quad Poster for '(500) Days of Summer'

12 July 2009 7:43 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

I may have mentioned this before, but while the upcoming (500) Days of Summer has a romance and has comedy, I wouldn't call it a romantic comedy. There are serveral reasons outside of the designation being a dirty word around these parts about 80% of the time. It injects a little more realism into movie relationships than we typically see. Maybe not so much in the situations but thematically.

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt work very well together, and for Gordon-Levitt it's another example of his star being on the rise for the right reasons. We'll see him in G.I. Joe, of course, and then next summer in Christopher Nolan's Inception, but I think this role and The Lookout, following up on his personal success in the undervalued Brick, really speak to how much ground he can cover as an actor.

Here's a new poster for (500) Days, and while there's also an American version, »

Gen Art Film Festival: Chicago Red Carpet With Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marc Webb, Scott Caan

30 June 2009 3:01 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – The Gen Art Film Festival here had red carpet events last week for two movie premieres, “(500) Days of Summer” with star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and director Marc Webb, plus “Mercy” with star and writer Scott Caan.

HollywoodChicago.com was there for both events and scored some Q&A with the principle architects of both films.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lead Actor, “(500) Days of Summer”

The child actor favorite of “Third Rock from the Sun” is all grown up and is making a splash in the independent and now mainstream film world. Following stellar performances in “Brick” (2005) and “The Lookout” (2007), Gordon-Levitt is excellent in his latest, a relationship comedy directed by Marc Webb. Look also for G-l in this summer’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra”.

Tom Cruise Spies On Cameron Diaz For Wichita

27 May 2009 11:32 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Tom Cruise is continuing onward in his quest to prove he's funny. Variety says he's eyeballing an action-comedy called Wichita as his next starring role. The movie is about a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman. Cruise would play the secret agent and Cameron Diaz is in negotiations to play the single woman. Cruise and Diaz haven't worked together since Vanilla Sky (unless you count her Minority Report cameo) in 2001, a movie which nobody but me really seems to appreciate. Come on! It's good. Apparently this script has been through a lot of doctoring, but the most recent rewrites were done by Scott Frank, which is a good sign. Raise your hand if you love The Lookout. Thank Scott Frank for that. Meanwhile James Mangold, best known as the director of 3:10 to Yuma and Walk the Line is set to direct. »

Tom Cruise may finally be ready to get back to work. After ages of pouring over scripts, it seems he's very close to making the James Mangold directed action comedy Wichita his next film. Both Cruise and Cameron Diaz are in advanced negotiations to star in the film and both have already approved the script. The most recent incarnation of the script was written by The Lookout scribe Scott Frank with Mangold currently making final tweaks with Shutter Island scribe Laeta Kalogridis. In it,... »

Exclusive: The Answer Man Poster

27 May 2009 1:21 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

I've developed a newfound love of all things Jeff Daniels, since his brilliant turn last year in The Lookout. Now I'm on the lookout for whatever he does next, and right now his next is a movie called The Answer Man. You may have heard some talk of it during Sundance earlier this year. Back then it was called Arlen Faber, but it's since been retitled. In it, Daniels plays the reclusive author of a wildly popular spirituality book who collides with a single mom looking for answers. One problem: He doesn't have any. We have your exclusive, first look at the film's official poster. Check it out below and watch for The Answer Man in theaters July 24th and on Video On Demand June 26th. »

"Marley & Me" Blu-ray review. Sweet and sincere, “Marley & Me” is more a family drama than a comedy itself.

29 April 2009 | Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news »

"Marley & Me" 3-Disc Bad Dog Edition reviewby Peter Dimako, Editor Sweet and sincere, “Marley & Me” is more a family drama than a comedy itself. Based on the memoir by John Grogan, the film follows the life of the Grogan couple with Owen Wilson as John and Jennifer Aniston, fittingly enough so, as his wife called Jennifer.“The world’s worst dog” is what John calls Marley as the film opens with the large Labrador running away from his owner. We then trace back to the beginning when the couple first picked up the adorably-innocent-looking pup. Through his adventure-filled life, Marley may keep the couple on their toes, ripping and shredding through the home, but he also shares in all of their experiences. From the Grogan’s first to their third child, the high and low moments in business, friendships and at home, Marley is part of it all. Director David Frankel »

Joseph Gordon-Levitt boards Nolan's 'Inception'

24 April 2009 9:10 AM, PDT | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who delivered some solid performances in "Brick" and "The Lookout," among others, is set to star in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Inception," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Plot details are kept under wraps, and the film is still only described as an action flick set within "the architecture of the mind." Whatever that means...

Also on-board already are Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Cillian Murphy. Oh yeah, and before I forget, we do know a little bit more about their characters. DiCaprio plays a CEO-type kind of guyPa, and Cotillard is his wife. ge stars as a grad student, and Gordon-Levitt is some kind of associate of DiCaprio's character.

I know this seems all blurry right now, but with Nolan on-board and a cast that really looks good, I'm sure "Inception" will be quite the intriguing experience. The film, by the way, is set »

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Joins Nolan's 'Inception'

24 April 2009 7:22 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Are you surprised that Joseph Gordon-Levitt escaped Third Rock from the Sun with his subtlety in tact? I mean between French Stewart and John Lithgow, that's a whole lotta queso. I think Lithgow even won the Emmy for Most Acting in a Comedy Series in 2000.

But Gordon-Levitt has become a great young character actor, and if he was a bigger guy, he'd be in the talks for all these superhero movies launching right about now. Watch Brick and The Lookout, skip (as nearly everyone did) Killshot, and wait with bated breath for 500 Days of Summer, in which he's terrific.

Christopher Nolan likes what he's seen out of Gordon-Levitt, adding him to join the growing cast of his Batman spacer, Inception, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Leonardo DiCaprio was the first name attached to the film, and in the weeks since, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Ellen Page have been signed. »

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, star of Brick, The Lookout and who plays Cobra Commander in the upcoming summer flick G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film Inception. He joins Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy and academy award winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie en rose). A veil of secrecy still exists over the plot details, though the project, which Nolan also wrote, is described as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within "the architecture of the mind." Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing via their Warners-based Syncopy Films shingle. Cotillard is playing DiCaprio's wife, while Page is playing a grad student and DiCaprio's sidekick. Gordon-Levitt will play an associate of DiCaprio's character, a CEO-type.
