Trivia:
The title of the movie comes from a famous Mark Twain quote; "truth is stranger than fiction, but this is because fiction is obliged to stick to probability; truth is not." moreGoofs:
Continuity: When Ana Pascal and Harold Crick are kissing on the couch, after she says "I want you too," he slips her jacket down to her elbows. When the shot changes, her jacket sleeve is only on one arm, but when the camera changes angles, her jacket is on both arms again. moreQuotes:
Kay Eiffel: [narrating] Why was Harold talking to this man? This man... was an idiot; this man used words like "wibbly-wobbly" and "convo," and explained that trees were trees. Of course trees were trees; Harold knew that trees were trees. moreSoundtrack:
Mind Your Own Business moreFAQ
If the book's ending was so perfect, why would Eiffel change it?Why doesn't Harold tell Ana what was going to happen to him?
What is the song Harold plays for Ana?

Fantasy movie, a la "Groundhog Day" where a man, Harold Crick in this case, finds he has no control over his life....which leads to him really appreciate his life. Although the premise is clearly fantasy, the concept is intriguing and compelling.
Cast is terrific; those who usually over-act, e.g. Dustin Hoffman and Will Ferrell, play it lower-keyed and believable. Emma Thompson, Queen Latifah and Maggie Gyllenhall (and Tom Hulce, almost unrecognizable in a single scene)round out the excellent cast .
A feel-good movie, mostly comedy but with some tragic undertones.
Close to two hours but you won't be looking at your watch very often.
