I decided to buy this film because I am a huge fan of Sean Maher, who I thought was excellent in the TV series Firefly, as well as the movies Serenity and Brian's Song. I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a moving movie with terrific acting and direction.
When Jack (Maher) and his girlfriend go to a fortune teller, she predicts his girlfriend will leave them. This turns out to be true. She also predicts he will die on his next birthday. Believing this to be true, Jack spends the next year as a recluse, staying holed up in his apartment. However, he soon meets a girl named Audrey (Jamie Ray Newman) who is also dying. Unlike him, however, she is not afraid to die, and wants to live every last second of her life doing what she wants to do. Eventually, she manages to coax Jack out of his apartment, and into the real world.
This is a fantastic movie, and the tale is very moving. The direction is wonderful. So is the acting. Sean Maher is excellent in the role, as is Jamie Ray Newman. I definitely suggest watching this film, and I wonder why it hasn't had more attention.
