• Continuity: When Fingers hands the baseball bat to Mac in the tunnel, he puts it in the hole handle end first. In the view from inside the tunnel the bat comes in fat end first.
  
  
• Continuity: When David is hitting all the foul balls, one hits and breaks a pot of flowers, but in the next shot the flower pot is back where it was.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When The Great Fear throws Small's toy over the fence everybody is screaming, When it cuts to a different position they are still screaming but their mouths are closed.
  
  

• Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt double when the dog is chasing David into the junk yard.

• Anachronisms: When Mr. Goodfairer is seen on TV, the NASA "Meatball" logo is seen behind him. The meatball logo wasn't widely used until 1992.
  
  
• Anachronisms: As the model Space Shuttle flies over the city, it goes over a Foot Locker. The movie takes place in 1972, Foot Locker did not exist until 1974.
