Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

A french man is gay and ends up kissing Ricky Bobby at the end

several scenes with implied nudity (women lifting their shirts so Ricky and Cal can sign their breasts) no actual female nudity is shown.

several other sexual references and situations

Ricky thinks hes on fire and he goes out of camera view in his racing suit and comes out in his underwear

a man bends down and is clearly shown wearing a thong.

Violence & Gore

Jean Girard breaks Ricky Bobby's arm in a bar.

Ricky Bobby thinks hes paralyzed so he stabs himself in the leg with a knife to prove that he is paralyzed. Cal and Lucius try to remove the knife, Lucius attempts to remove the 1st knife by wedging a 2nd knife. No blood is visible.

Profanity

some strong PG13 language

some derogatory words used for homosexual

some strong sexual jokes

in the unrated 2 uses of the F bomb and other words such as sh$#

Rickys dad smokes a few times throughout the movie

Rickys dad tapes "cocaine" (which really are lucky charms) to the bottom of his car so he can learn to drive fast again by getting away from the cops

A scene takes place in a bar where multiple characters are drinking beer.

Cal tells Ricky that he wishes he could be hammered drunk while watching Jesus play lead lead guitar for Lynard Skynard.

Ricky's dad is a pot dealer, and while he is never seen dealing, he mentions having weed in his hotel room, and that one of his only possessions is a duffel bag full of it. One of his grandsons asks him about his prices, but he ignores the remark.

Maybe when Ricky Bobby stabs himself in the leg with a knife mentioned above in the "Violence & Gore" section
