The Fountain (2006) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

During the scene where the Inquisitor is about to kill the three people hung upside-down, you can see the one of the hanged woman's breasts.

However, this is quite difficult to spot, as it is not the subject of the shot and is off in the distance.

Violence & Gore

There are a few scenes of violence and gore. In one Spaniards are attacking and Ancient Mayans are attacking back and you see spears pierce the Spaniards and Mayans bludgeoned/slashed to death (with blood).

There is a scene where Thomas is stabbed by a Mayan shaman (blood oozes out), the stab wound is shown and later Thomas splits the Mayan shaman's neck with a dagger.

Spaniards attempt to kill Thomas and a priest, Thomas kills three of the Spaniards.

A scene in a hospital where Tom chokes a doctor.

There is also a scene about a half an hour into the movie where the Spain inquisitor is whipping himself repeatedly on the back and it shows bloody wounds (his back looked like as graphic as Jesus' back from The Passion of the Christ).

About 40-45 minutes into the movie we see the Spain inquisitor bleeding out sinners by hanging them upside down (we see them bloodied and injured). The prisoners are then killed by dropping them.

Profanity

One F-word One S-word

The language in this movie is quite mild, aside from only two or three strong profanities.

Some death parts. Might frighten little children, but is understandable to a mature age of 15+.

Scene of vivisection on a baboon with head opened. Also about 40-45 minutes into the movie we see the Spain inquisitor bleeding out "sinners" by hanging them upside down. There is moaning. The prisoners are then killed by dropping them. You do not see them die but you hear them scream. There is also a scene in the hopsital that is very intense. The present guy's wife is dying and he is furiously giving her CPR and beating on her chest. There is a scene in the end where plants are growing out of a man's body while he is alive. He furiously rips them out but they grow faster and come out of his mouth until you no longer see him. It's pretty intense; he's screaming the whole time.
