Yahoo! Movies has just debuted the first poster for Iron Man 2. That high-pitched noise you just heard was fanboys across the globe squealing their minds out to see War Machine (a.k.a. Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle) standing behind Iron Man. Of course, if you have no idea about the Iron Man mythology, I wonder if you look at this think it’s like the Black Costume from Spider-Man 3 or if Iron Man is feeling shoulder-mounted-chain-gun-envy.
Hit the jump to check out the full poster. Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

Tobey Maguire has addressed previous rumor by mentioning that he was unwilling to return to the fourth installment of "Spider-Man" film franchise, "Spider-Man 4". "It's not that I was reluctant," he said in a recent interview with The Boston Globe.
"For me, it's a big process to decide whether or not to do a role," the father of two children added. "I have to want to wake up in the morning and feel like I can't wait to get to work. I've got to feel okay about leaving my kids for 12 or 13 hours a day for five months. It's a big commitment."
During the interview, the 34-year-old also shared about his willingness to develop his Spider-Man character and his alter ego Peter Parker. "Hopefully I'll be able to evolve the character in a new direction," Maguire said. "He'll still be Peter Parker, but I hope I can move him forward »

Apparently Twilighters aren’t one-trick box office ponies after all. A week after making “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” the third best 3-day opening film of all time (behind only “The Dark Knight” and “Spider-Man 3″), the teens came back for a second straight week to keep “New Moon”, the second entry in the “Twilight” series at the number one spot. With a studio estimated $42.5 million in its second week of release, the teen fantasy about sparkling vampires, hunky werewolves, and lovestruck teenage girls has grossed over $230 million so far at the domestic box office, and $362 million worldwide. I think it’s safe to say that Bella and crew are here to stay. Although it hung onto the #1 spot, “New Moon” just barely survived a blind side charge by Sandra Bullock’s “The Blind Side”. The Bullock sports movie, based on the true story of football player Michael Oher (now »

Everyone was wrong. That's the only conclusion one can draw from the actual box-office figures for The Twilight Saga: New Moon when compared not only with weekend forecasts but also with official estimates released on Sunday. Sunday's figures were based on actual results for Friday and Saturday and an educated guess as to how much the movie would earn on Sunday. In the end it turned out that Sunday's business exceeded Summit Entertainment's guesstimate by a whopping $2.1 million. In the end, the movie actually earned $142.8 million for the three days -- the most any film has ever made outside of summer and behind last year's The Dark Knight (with $158 million) and 2007's Spider-Man 3 ($151 million) on the all-time list. Before it opened on Friday, box-office fortune tellers had predicted it would earn $80-100 million, and those predicting it would cross the $100-million mark were dismissed as moon-blinded know-nothings. But while the domestic estimates seemed to have been conservatively lowballed, the international ones seemed downright off-base. Summit said late Monday that the film actually earned $132.1 million -- or $14 million more than the Sunday projection. That brought the worldwide total to $274.9 million. Today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times explained the discrepancy by observing that, unlike the major studios, Summit does not have its own foreign distribution operation but instead relies on a number of smaller distributors who take their time reporting ticket sales. Indeed, some of them have yet to disclose weekend totals in some markets. »

It didn’t have the biggest opening weekend ever, but New Moon did have the biggest opening day ever: $72.7 million on Friday alone, which beat out The Dark Knight’s $67.2 million, even though New Moon was playing at 342 fewer locations. And even though it was a regular ol’ nonsummer weekday, which means kids were at school and grownups were at work. (Oh, and New Moon’s takings from midnight screenings -- $26.3 million -- set a new record, too.) For the whole-weekend record, New Moon clocked in at No. 3, behind Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3. According to Box Office Mojo: New Moon distributor Summit Entertainment's exit polling indicated that 80 percent of the audience was female and 50 percent was under 21 years old, which means the sequel skewed more female and younger than the first Twilight. »

On top of the already set-in-stone release date of May 6th, 2011 for the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4, we’ve heard word of a shooting start date of March, 2010. That word came just last month from Spidey director, Sam Raimi, who was quoted as saying, “We’re hoping that it’s the first week in March.” Since then speculation and rumors around Spider-Man 4 have run rampant, particularly regarding who will be the villain(s) of the film, as well as who would play the villain of the Black Cat, if the character is indeed to be included (as rumored) in the next film.
To reiterate what Raimi said about the start date, Spider-Man himself, Tobey Maguire, recently echoed the statement. HitFix reports that while at a press conference for his intense-looking upcoming “brother drama” entitled, well, Brothers, Maguire revealed that Spider-Man 4 will begin filming in February or March 2010, which places »

Back in October, director Sam Raimi hinted that one of the next villains to face down Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4 might be Dr. Curt Connors, Aka "The Lizard." In response to an MTV fan poll that picked The Lizard, Raimi said: I love the Lizard. There's a great story there in the Marvel comic books about Dr. Connors.
While Raimi's comments may not be an indication that The Lizard will feature prominently in Spider-Man 4, recent comments Tobey Maguire has made to MTV lend more weight to that possibility.
I'm more familiar with Lizard and Mysterio, and I don't know — I like them as villains. I think they're great, and Lizard obviously has a really personal relationship with Peter Parker, so we often will go towards that kind of stuff.
Production on Spider-Man 4 is slated to begin in March.

The UK has officially caught Stephenie Meyer fever after The Twilight Saga: New Moon's strident opening weekend, and the Coens' A Serious Man deals another little cut to star prestige
The winner
When the original Twilight movie arrived in the UK last December, it opened with a decent £2.51m – not a bad number, considering Stephenie Meyer's books had yet to achieve blockbuster status. But it was far, far behind the Us debut figure for the picture: $69.6m (£42.1m).
What a difference a year makes. With the first Twilight film a huge phenomenon on DVD, and the Meyer books belatedly reaching a wide UK readership, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan have ascended to iconic characters here, and Britain has succumbed to R-Pattz mania. Now sequel New Moon has debuted in the UK with £11.68m, which is a whopping 4.6 times the opening weekend of the original film. In three days, »

The Twilight Saga: New Moon landed the third best opening weekend of all time in the USA, and the biggest this year, with earnings of $142.8million.
Its astonishing opening weekend puts it behind only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 in the all-time league table of film openings.
As I reported earlier, the vampire romance sequel had already shattered the USA records for midnight showings and opening day takings.
Polls showed that - unsurprisingly - 80 per cent of New Moon's audience was female and 50 per cent under 21.
Outside North America, the film took $124.1million, with the UK getting the highest overseas take of $18.7million. Including early openers and previews, the foreign takings amounted to s $132.1million, giving a total worldwide opening of $274.9 million, according to latest updated figures from Variety.
Ticket sales for the previous weekend's top film, the disaster flick 2012, fell by 59 per cent as it was swamped »

Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner in The Twilight Saga: New Moon The Twilight Saga: New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz, and starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, did even better than its studio, Summit Entertainment, had estimated. According to final box-office figures for the weekend, New Moon earned $142.8 million in the Us/Canada market, more than $2 million than predicted yesterday. That’s also more than double what Twilight made in its first three days a year ago ($69.6 million) and almost three-quarters of that film’s total domestic earnings. The Twilight Saga: New Moon has had the third biggest opening weekend ever, after Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight ($158.4 million) and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 ($151.1 million). Twilight 'New Moon' movie bit a huge $142.8 million over the weekend. Summit Entertainment's number one movie, "Twilight Saga: New Moon" banked in a whopping 142.8 million dollars in its opening weekend, according to Reuters. This put them in 3rd place for the all time sales record for opening weekend releases. Batman's "The Dark Night" still leads the pack with $158 million, and "Spider-Man 3" comes in 2nd place with $151 million. However, "New Moon" does lead the pack for the midnight screenings record at $26.3 million. I personally thought it had a real good chance to possibly beat out the all-time record, but oh well. I'm sure Summit Entertainment is still real happy with the results, and should announce the "Breaking Dawn" 4th sequel pretty soon. They're nuts,if they don't. »

Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga New Moon posted the third largest opening weekend in history from Friday-Sunday with $142.8 million. The monster sequel also gathered another estimated $132.1 million in 24 international markets for a global total of $274.9 million.
Predominantly female fans (80%) lined up early to gawk at Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner on screen again. They set a new midnight record of $26.3 million and the highest opening day in history with $72.7 million, swiping the top spots from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Dark Knight respectively.
The vampire follow-up failed to grab the biggest opening weekend though, landing underneath the Batman sequel ($158.4M) and Spider-Man 3 ($151.1M). It did, however, beat Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in weekend and 3-day numbers, though it should be noted the giant robot movie opened on a Wednesday this summer.
The sequel was virtually critic-proof, posting huge numbers even after 30% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. »

The Twilight Saga: New Moon sank its teeth into box-office analysts who had predicted that the movie would earn $70-90 million over the weekend. A few had wildly predicted that it would cross the $100-million mark. In the end, it did so easily and flew off with an estimated $140.7 million, the most any movie had ever earned over a three-day weekend with the exception of The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 (both released during the lucrative summertime period.) The Los Angeles Times called the figure "mind-bending." But even employees of Summit Entertainment, which produced the movie, were surprised. Distribution chief Richie Fay told Us Weekly: "I dare say in all the office pools, I don't think anyone had near this top gross." (In fact, the total could go higher. For unexplained reasons, Summit appeared to lowball its estimate for Sunday. The $140.7 million figure was based on actual results for Friday and Saturday and an educated guess as to how the film would perform on Sunday). The result challenged conventional wisdom in Hollywood that teenage boys control the box office. New Moon's audience was overwhelmingly female, and more than half were adults. Overseas, New Moon grossed $118.1 million, bringing its worldwide total to about $258 million. Also performing far above expectations was the sports drama The Blind Side, which earned $34.5 million in its opening. And, as it expanded to 629 theaters, Precious grossed more than $11 million, an astounding average of $17,500 per screen. But the animated Planet 51 disappointed with a fourth-place $12.6-million opening.
Update: Final total for New Moon: $142,839,137. »

Final numbers released today show that the Twilight sequel finished the weekend with a spectacular $142.8 million, up from the, well, spectacular $140.7 million of first reports. In the end, New Moon made $72.7 million on Friday, $42.3 million Saturday and $27.8 million on Sunday. Composer Danny Elfman has provided the distinctive musical theme for Tim Burton's "Batman" films as well as a host of other television and movie projects, so when we caught up with him at the red carpet preview of Burton's new exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, we had to ask: will he be returning to the Spidey movie team when "Spider-Man 4" comes around?
"Who knows?" smiled Elfman, who re-teamed with director Sam Raimi to compose 2007's "Spider-Man 3" theme.
"Only the great gods of the movie world could answer that question," he laughed. "Imagine a chess game, [with] the Greek gods moving us around — that's how it is in the movie world. Somebody's moving me about from one square to another, but I have no idea what square I'm headed to next."
The Tim Burton Exhibit at MoMA runs November 22 - April 26 — check the museum's official website for details. »

The record breaking New Moon played to jammed packed theaters this past weekend and fans couldn't get enough of Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart), and Jacob(Taylor Lautner). The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) took home over $140M, making it the third biggest opening ever next to Spider-Man 3 (2007) with $151M and The Dark Knight (2008) with $158M. With the big movie weekend behind us, how long do you think it will take for New Moon to surpass this year's top grossing film? Do you think that New Moon has any shot of coming close to James Cameron's $600M Titanic (1997)? Just on opening weekend alone, New Moon surpassed some of the most highly anticipated films of 2009 such as Angels & Demons (2009), Inglourious Basterds (2009), and District 9 (2009). Thanksgiving week is upon on which means turkey and stuffing, family and friends, and big numbers for movie theaters nationwide. Statistically, Thanksgiving is a big »

This weekend brought good news and bad news for the film industry. The good news is that people—and not just squealing, hormonal Twilight fans—went to the movies in droves. Yes, The Twilight Saga: New Moon shattered the single day box-office record on Friday with $72.7 and ended up with the third highest-grossing opening weekend of all time after The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3, with $140 million. But competing movies did well too, presumably attracting the considerable number of moviegoers who don’t really give a shit whether Bella and Edward can surmount their impossible love or not. The Blind Side, based on V.F. contributing editor Michael Lewis’s bestselling football book, scored $34.5 million, more than recouping its reported $29 million budeget; and 2012’s box-office tidal wave continued its worldwide sweep, with $26.5 million, bringing its global total to an astounding $449.8 million. “It’s a really good sign for the industry, »

I hope y'all are ready for a full day of "New Moon" coverage. Because it came out of the weekend with the biggest all-time records broken for midnight openings and Friday openings. And it's number three for top all-time opening weekends, behind "The Dark Knight" and "Spider-Man 3" (no, there's no accounting for taste with Spidey).
So let me make this absolutely clear for everyone: "Twilight" is officially everywhere. Everywhere. And like the vampires it portrays, the franchise is starting to infect every facet of pop culture. Just take a look at our "Twilight" Takeover flipbook gallery to see for yourself.
