Last August I wrote an article headlined "Cormac McCarthy's 'Blood Meridian' Can't Possibly Become a Movie" in response to continued word Little Children and In the Bedroom helmer Todd Field was set to direct McCarthy's blood-soaked 1985 breakthrough novel. Among the reasons given I wrote "there is no chance this book can be brought to the big screen and possibly keep its tone, not in the slightest." In a new interview with McCarthy and John Hillcoat, the director of the upcoming McCarthy adaptation The Road, McCarthy says "That's all crap."
John Jergensen interviewing for The Wall Street Joural said to the 76-year-old author, "People have said 'Blood Meridian' is unfilmable because of the sheer darkness and violence of the story." McCarthy responded: That's all crap. The fact that's it's a bleak and bloody story has nothing to do with whether or not you can put it on the screen. That's not the issue. »

Kellan Lutz ('Emmett Cullen') spent his downtime between Twilight films New Moon and Eclipse working on the new A Nightmare on Elm Street film. Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) takes over the role of Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund portrayed the killer in all the previous films) and Lutz plays Dean, one of the people Freddy terrorizes, in this new, revamped take on the decades-old horror franchise.
Although the La press day for New Moon was focused 99.9% of the time on all things Twilight, A Nightmare on Elm Street came up during the press conference Lutz was a part of. When asked about the dream sequences and what audiences can expect from the 2010 film, Lutz joked that his character actually becomes the steel-gloved killer.
"It's great. I kill Jackie Earle Haley and take away his glove and sweater -- the sweater itches," said Lutz, laughing. "No. You know what? »

MTV recently sat down and had a brief chat with Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Little Children) about tackling the iconic role of Freddy Krueger for Platinum Dunes upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street . (Due in theaters April 30th, 2010) The actor was surprised and thankful for the on-line support from fans when it came to casting and it paid off as this reporter claims he was Platinum Dunes only choice. As far as the new approach to this Nightmare ? "I think where [director] Sam [Bayer] is coming from is a darker, more serious place," he says. "It's still fun, but I think it's going to be a little darker, and a little more serious." Watch the rest of the interview for yourself embedded below: Movie Trailers - Movies Blog Jackie... »

'The first I heard about it was people were suggesting me on the Internet for the part,' Jackie Earle Haley says.

For decades, Hollywood cast the person they thought would bring in the most money for a movie role, often resulting in some odd choices (Vince Vaughn in "Psycho," Kevin Costner in "Robin Hood," Keanu Reeves in virtually everything) that were largely rejected by audiences. But now, it's the 21st century, and the Internet has made film more of a conversation than a monologue. From Michael Chiklis as The Thing in "Fantastic Four" to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in "Wolverine," several high-profile castings of the last few years have begun online — and Jackie Earle Haley couldn't be happier.

In New York, Bam, Film Forum, and Anthology Film Archives are playing forgotten masterworks, unavailable on DVD, in pristine prints: this past week has surfaced prints of Elia Kazan’s America, America at Film Forum, Douglas Sirk’s A Time to Love and a Time to Die and André De Toth’s Man in the Saddle, Norman Rockwell with guns, at Bam, and an entire retrospective to Ulrike Ottinger at Anthology, where upcoming are long overdue retros of Roger Corman and Jerry Lewis. In most cases, it’s been decades since these films have been shown in New York.
Meanwhile, MoMA slugs on with deliberately disposable movies designed to draw families and indie teens who have already seen them: a Spike Jonze retro of his music videos and films; an upcoming Tim Burton retro the museum’s been working on for years; a just-completed “Recent Film Acquisitions »

As Green Lantern creaks into production, word reaches us via Slash Film that the long-gestating superhero flick may have finally got itself a bad guy.
It's long been known that the Martin Campbell-directed blockbuster will star Ryan Reynolds as the eponymous ring-wielding crusader and it's now being strongly rumoured that his big bad will come in the shape of Jackie Earle Haley, who will reportedly play Sinestro.
If the movie sticks to the comic book origin story, Sinestro will act as mentor to new Gl Hal Jordan and introduce him to the intergalactic peace-keeping corps before eventually going all evil when he crafts himself a hugely powerful yellow ring - whether or not this will be the plot of the first movie or a set-up for a future sequel remains to be revealed though.
If the story is true, this should be an interesting development, as Haley has done »

Rumored to be on the top of the list to portray villainous Sinestro in "Green Lantern", Jackie Earle Haley delivered a different story when attending Spike TV's 2009 Scream Awards. On Saturday, October 17, the Rorschach of "Watchmen" confessed to MTV, "I just heard about this, literally."
Commenting more on the rumor, the 48-year-old shared, "I know the guys that are doing it. It's exciting to me. It makes me want to go get the Green Lantern comics and start reading up." While he admitted to have just heard about the speculation, he didn't shoot down the possibility. He said, "I don't know much about it. I'm a comics fan, but I haven't gotten into that one yet. I guess I'd better do my homework."

Shortly after receiving an Oscar nomination for "Little Children," the Internet began buzzing with fans insisting that Jackie Earle Haley would make an ideal Rorschach in the "Watchmen" movie. When "Watchmen" hit theaters, many fans began lobbying for Haley to become the new Freddy Krueger.
Now, with "A Nightmare on Elm Street" in the can, Haley showed up to Saturday's Spike TV "Scream Awards" having just learned about another possible gig from the Internet: playing the supervillain Sinestro in "Green Lantern."
"I just heard about this, literally," Haley told MTV News of an anonymously sourced report on Ain't It Cool News claiming he will be offered the role of arch-enemy to Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan in the soon-to-shoot blockbuster.

All the Oscar attention he got for Little Children payed off in a big way for former child star turned toast of the town Jackie Earle Haley. Haley, who made fanboys cream their pants with his performance as Rorschach [1] (Watchmen) and soon to star upcoming Michael Bay-led reboot of Nightmare on Elm Street (playing Freddy Krueger), will now inhabit another favorite villain as Sinestro in Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. According to Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News [2], Jackie Earle Haley is near the top of the wishlist to play Sinestro, the biggest villain of the "Green Lantern" universe. In the same post, Knowles speculates that Superman will make a cameo in the film, stating it to be ¨an indicator that DC is paying attention and taking note of what Marvel is doing.¨ [1] http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=7&ved=0CB0QFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. »

Following confirmation about its production that has been pulled out of Australia, "Green Lantern" is hit with a casting rumor. Ain't It Cool News (AICN) has come up with the story that the lead villain in this adaptation of the DC Comics' superhero may well be portrayed by Jackie Earle Haley.
According to Harry Knowles of AICN, someone "working on the film" claimed that the new Freddy Krueger of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is on top of the actors list considered for the part of Sinestro. The scooper reportedly also spoiled that Superman "will be making a cameo," adding that "all depends upon how... other DC things go."
Sinestro is the former mentor of Hal Jordan and the arch-nemesis of the entire Green Lantern Corps. He was banished from the Corps after using the power of the Green Lantern to instill fear rather than combat it. In the casting call, »

One, two, Freddy's coming for you...yet again. Hollywood continues with its latest trend of taking something old and turning it into something new with this "reimagining" of the horror classic about everybody's favorite dream killer. Taking over for Robert Englund as the burned baddie with a wit as sharp as the blades on his glove is Watchmen and Little Children star Jackie Earle Haley, whose nighttime nuisance seems to get a bit more backstory this time around. While the updated version is clearly designed to introduce Freddy to a whole new generation, there are plenty of elements taken from the original that may help satisfy fans of the 1984 flick as well. Sadly,... »

Halloween. Friday the 13th. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Amityville Horror. With virtually every famous slasher movie remade over the past few years, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Hollywood got cracking on arguably the most famous of them all: the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, which brought the world Freddy Krueger. But when the Warner Bros.-owned New Line and Platinum Dunes started production, they did all the other remakes one better by landing the best possible choice to play Krueger: Jackie Earle Haley, of Watchmen and Little Children. Maybe it was Haley's involvement or maybe it was ... »

An all-new teaser for Samuel Bayer/Michael Bay's Nightmare On Elm Street rework has crept out onto the internet. A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality. The project has Freddy fans split leaving most concerned with the possibility of yet another bad remake. Once again a first time director who only has experience working on music videos is assigned the difficult task of rebooting a beloved franchise. Wearing the red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-gloves is Jackie Earle Haley [1] (Little Children, The Watchmen) while Rooney Mara [2] plays the lead Nancy Thompson. It's difficult for me to get very excited for a new Paul Haggis directorial project. The stain of Crash stays with me. But The Next Three Days could be interesting. It's a remake of a 2008 French film Pour Elle by Fred Cavaye about a couple that has some problems when the woman is imprisoned for a murder she says she didn't commit. Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks are the headliners, but three more have just been added to the cast. THR reports that the RZA is one of the three. No, I didn't see that one coming, either. Also on board is a kid named Ty Simpkins, from Little Children and Revolutionary Road, and far more interesting is the final add: Brian Dennehy. I feel like I haven't seen Dennehy do much in a while, but that's because I missed Righteous Kill. He's negotiating to come on board as the »

Today we have a double whammy of new items from the upcoming movie version of the classic 80s TV series, The A-Team. They are a new piece of casting news (don’t worry, none of the already announced actors have been replaced!) and our very first look at the famous A-Team black-with-red-stripe-van.
First up, let’s take a look at the new A-Team van, by way of a photo from the set (from SplashNews) where the movie is currently filming in Vancouver. Die hard fans of the original series will be pleased to know that the new van isn’t all that different from the original (I mean generally - I suspect die hards will nitpick…), which I don’t think is much a problem since that was one of the less cheesier things from the series. It can easily be transferred almost identically to the 21st century movie update and work just as well. »
