I saw this little gem at a screening.

The premise of the story is: What if Ernest Hemingway had to deal with the Hollywood system in place today? The studio execs take one of his most beloved books and absolutely butcher it. Hemingway is ultimately powerless to stop it, and finds himself at odds over the studio's particular "take" on the material.

The end product is both hilarious and startling, as Hemingway is faced with a grotesque bastardization of The Old Man and the Sea - retitled, "Fishing for Love."

"I smell franchise," one exec quips. "Old Man and the Lake. Old Man and the Pond."

The only weak aspect of the film is I feel they could have cast a better Hemingway. While good in the part, he simply didn't look enough like Papa for my tastes.
