Best Animated Comedy Ever, 18 December 2007
9/10
Author: jwr-davis from United Kingdom

I cannot speak highly enough of American Dad, it's genuinely laugh out loud funny, with a great mix of adult and political dig humour. It takes the family unit idea and screws with it to a surreal extent. Plenty of knowing "in jokes" that probably would go over the head of many viewers - Roger the alien is fantastically camp and has me crying with laughter - I don't think I've laughed so much since Blackadder, and whilst The Simpson's was the first, American Dad takes it to the next level and as an adult it is much more watchable. Even the Simpsons has cloying feel good Disney moments which frankly we could do without, not American Dad! a far darker proposition and all the better for it.

You can tell it's great, just read all the rabid insane rantings from those that don't get it, or are too busy saluting the flag to have a brain or a sense of humour - Unamerican?, it certainly has the occasional pop at the less pleasant side of the USA, the right wing nuts, personally I'd like it to go a bit further and have a pop at gun totting "Christian" fundamentalists too, a la South Park,

Ignore the juvenile and low IQ dissing of American Dad, it's one of the funniest things in years, the more it upsets certain sectors of US society the better!
